My campfire essentials 🔥

Summer is finally in the air, and my siblings (plus all our partners) kicked it off with a cozy campfire in the mountains — no signal, just nature and good company. Here are some of my must-haves for the perfect night out:

- A bucket – always bring one to safely put out the fire

- Toilet paper – it always comes in handy

- Hand sanitizer

- Mosquito repellent

- Trash bag

- Napkins

- Folding camp chairs – one for me, one for my husband

- Blankets and sweaters – nights get chilly

- Walkie-talkies – just in case

- Water bottle

- Firewood – each couple brings 1–2 packs, so we end up with about 6

- Roasting sticks or bamboo skewers

- Plastic plates and cups

- Matches

- Multi-tool knife

- Flashlight or headlamp

- Hot dogs with ketchup, mustard, and mayo

- Chips and snacks

- Fruit (like watermelon with Tajín)

- Marshmallows, graham crackers, and Hershey’s for classic s’mores

- Sodas

- Bottled water

- UNO card game

There’s nothing like good food, a crackling fire, and disconnecting with your favorite people in the middle of the mountains. Let the summer nights begin!

P.S. I’ll leave a checklist at the end in case you want to save it for your next campfire night. Also, feel free to comment any items you use that I didn’t have on my list. 😆

Campfires are a delightful way to gather with friends and family, but planning is essential. Here are some other items you might consider bringing along: a first-aid kit for minor injuries, a portable charger for devices, and a cooler for perishable foods. To ensure a great experience, check the weather before you go, and always have a plan for fire safety. Keep your camp area clean by using reusable or biodegradable dinnerware, which not only helps the environment but also adds a practical touch to your camping experience. Don't forget to explore local regulations regarding campfires in your area, as some places may have restrictions or require permits. Lastly, to make your night even more enjoyable, consider roasting different foods like vegetables or experimenting with desserts over the fire. Campfire cooking can be a fun and creative way to bond with your group, plus nothing beats the flavor of food cooked over an open flame. Embrace the adventure and have a fantastic campfire night!
