I fell in love and moved across the country

This month marks a year since we got our first place! My husband and I packed out the biggest uhal we could find and started a 3 day journey across the country. 🚚

Acquiring your first home is a glorious feat but it’s certainly had its challenges‼️

I had a lot of people concerned for me when I told them I’d be moving out west. Especially because nobody knows my man like I do.

(People are nosey, maybe it was out of love)

I was also weary about moving to this small town I’d never heard of. But with a man like mine I was excited for the journey. I’d follow him anywhere, except hell🌚!

Though the town seemed small and lackluster, I was excited to be the woman of my own house for once.

I felt like an adult for the first time. Saying that feels strange considering how fast I had grown up.

Everybody talks about having a soft life but for me it was hard 😂. I love being a housewife yall but I hated doing things when I don’t want to. Housework came naturally to me but I’d never managed a WHOLE HOUSE.

On top of that we had to go old school for a while. We had a washer with no dryer so we resulted to the next best, the sun 🌞. Hated it and took forever.

But, ultimately I’m still learning responsibility and eventually I got over it. And looking at everything now I can say I enjoy my boring life in the desert.

Because boring is the opposite of chaos.👏

... Read moreMoving across the country for love felt like something out of a movie, but the reality of landing in a small town in the desert, one I'd never even heard of, was a whole different story. Initially, my 'dreamt' life involved bustling city streets or charming coastal towns, not the quiet expanse of the desert. I questioned what life would be like, far from everything familiar. Would I miss the vibrancy of city life, or would this new adventure truly cultivate the peace I secretly craved? What I've discovered about living in a town in the desert is its unique rhythm. The dramatic desert landscape photos you see don't fully capture the feeling of the vast, open skies and the stunning sunsets that paint the horizon every evening. It’s a place where you truly connect with nature, even if it means adapting to the extreme temperatures. The community here is tight-knit, a stark contrast to the anonymity I was used to. Neighbors genuinely care, and there’s a sense of belonging that's hard to find elsewhere. However, it also means limited amenities and a slower pace, which took some getting used to. Making this new house our first home was a labor of love. I remember staring at the empty rooms, picturing how we'd transform them. From finding the perfect spot for our makeshift outdoor clothesline to figuring out the best ways to keep the house cool during scorching summers, every step has been a learning curve. There’s a profound satisfaction in building a life from scratch in a place that now feels like it was meant for us, turning an initially daunting empty space into a comforting sanctuary. This quiet life in a town in the desert has redefined what my 'dreamt' future looks like. It’s not about constant excitement or grand adventures every day. Instead, it’s about the simple joys: peaceful mornings, shared meals, and the immense satisfaction of managing our own home. The mundane tasks that once felt like a burden now represent stability and the freedom to create a life on our own terms. I've learned that sometimes, the greatest dreams are found in the most unexpected, quiet corners of the world. For anyone considering a similar leap, my advice is to embrace the unknown but also to be prepared. Research the specific town in the desert you're moving to – understand its climate, resources, and community spirit. Be open to adapting, and remember that building a new life takes time and patience. The challenges will come, but so will the profound moments of joy and realization that you are indeed living a dream you might not have even known you had.
