TBH: Playing is Hard…
I always looked down on the parents who were always too ‘busy’ to play with their kids. That is until I HAD kids. It’s so much easier said than done. It’s a constant battle between getting done what needs to be and giving them that undivided playing time. It seems like with every kid I have it gets harder and harder because of the workload increasing. I’m finding myself feeling guilty for not spending the time with them but truthfully… playing is hard! Some of us aren’t good at imagination and pretending, or arts & crafts, or teaching. So when it comes to play time we just try to entertain and buy all the independent toys

Ya know i wouldn’t mind playing with her if she didn’t dictate how i play. When i try to insert my own storyline she says “pretend that didn’t happen” then say whatever she wants to happen. I’m just the parrot and that’s not fun at all. And i agree, it’s not fun if you’re not interested in the game. I have to tell myself it’s her way of processing things but I’m so bored of the same game everyday and not getting any say in the game play
