... Read moreFrom my first experience driving in Jeju, I learned that renting a car early is key, especially if you want a compact model like the Kia Morning, perfect for two people but a bit cozy in the back seat. Unlike what you might be used to, Jeju follows left-hand driving, so I recommend doing some research beforehand — especially on the distinct traffic rules such as the ability to turn right at a red light in certain situations. Parking around major attractions is generally hassle-free with ample vertical and horizontal parking spots, which is great if you’re not confident at parallel parking. However, stay alert for numerous speed cameras and bumps scattered across the island, as the speed limits can change frequently. I found using Naver Maps invaluable, as it not only helped with directions but also warned me about speed restrictions. One tricky part was refueling before returning the car. Jeju has dedicated EV stations without attendants, unlike what I’m used to in Singapore. Fortunately, a helpful local guided me through the petrol pump process. Make sure to check fuel types accepted at stations, especially if you’re new to the area. Overall, driving in Jeju gave me the flexibility to explore hidden spots that public transport can’t reach, turning my trip into a true adventure.
