Marking 100 years of Black History Month in 2026 is a monumental occasion worth reflecting on deeply. From my experience attending various celebrations and educational events over the years, I've seen how this month fosters awareness and appreciation of Black history and contributions that are often overlooked. It’s inspiring to see communities come together to share stories, art, and achievements while also addressing ongoing struggles for equality and justice. The centennial milestone offers an opportunity not only to celebrate past accomplishments but also to recommit to progress and unity. During Black History Month, I’ve personally participated in local events that included guest speakers, film screenings, and cultural exhibits that expanded my understanding of the rich diversity within Black heritage.
