This is why your homemade bread SUCKS 🍞
After A LOT of trial and error and failed bread loaves, I’ve saved you all of the hassle/time on why your homemade bread can “suck”. ⬇️
01) Not using high-quality flour:
I CANNOT STRESS THE DIFFERENCE THIS MAKES!! Spend the extra money and buy high-quality flour. I PROMISE you the dough comes out so much more airy. I have tried the same recipe with cheap flour and the more expensive one- the more expensive dough was way more elastic and “fluffy”! It really was a night and day difference.
02) Not waiting enough time for the dough to rise:
I am an impatient cook. Waiting the 1-2 hours is rough for sure. However, this is soooo important and the dough must double in size before you bake it!
03) Not following a good recipe:
It can be hard to find a bread recipe that is delicious and works. I have finally found one that never fails me.
The good news is once you successfully cook a bread loaf- it becomes second nature and gets easier! What are your homemade bread tips? Leave them down below ⬇️

Baking homemade bread can be a fulfilling yet challenging experience. Many home bakers encounter issues that can lead to disappointing results. One of the key factors in successful bread making is the quality of your ingredients. For instance, using high-quality flour is essential because it has the necessary protein content to develop gluten effectively, which gives bread its structure and texture. Brands such as King Arthur and Bob's Red Mill are often recommended for their consistent quality. Another common mistake is impatience during the rising process. Bread dough needs time to ferment and develop flavor. Allowing it to rise in a warm environment can enhance both taste and texture. If time is a constraint, consider using a fast-acting yeast, or you can opt for no-knead bread recipes which require long fermentations but minimal effort. Finding a trusted recipe is also crucial. Consider exploring different sources to find one that matches your skill level and taste preferences. Once you find a reliable recipe, stick with it until you become comfortable with the process before experimenting with variations. Additionally, using tools like a kitchen scale for measuring ingredients can improve accuracy and consistency in your bread-making efforts. Finally, don’t hesitate to share your own tips and tricks with the community. Engaging with fellow baking enthusiasts can provide valuable insights and foster a supportive atmosphere for improvement. Happy baking!
