Like, you just use it, and boom, problem solved. But honestly, for pure efficiency, it's hard to beat! For those new to netrunning, 'Self Destruct' is a quickhack that essentially turns an enemy into a walking bomb. Once uploaded, it overloads their cyberware, causing them to explode after a short delay, taking out nearby enemies or at least damaging them. The real kicker, as many of us have found, is that often there's 'no penalty' for using it. You upload it, step back, and you 'just win' – especially against those annoying melee enemies or heavily armored foes that are tough to take down conventionally. I personally find it 'only feels good during missions' where you need to clear an area quickly or deal with a high-priority target without much fuss. Think about those tight corridors or rooms full of gangoons during a corpo gig – upload 'Self Destruct' to a tough enemy, and watch the chain reaction. It saves a ton of ammo and health, letting you focus on the objective. Plus, it's incredibly satisfying to watch a group of enemies suddenly explode without you even firing a shot! Of course, it does cost 'CYBERDECK RAM', so you need to make sure your cyberdeck is upgraded enough to handle the cost, especially if you plan on spamming it. I usually keep my RAM around 27/31 or 31/31, just to ensure I have enough for multiple hacks or follow-up attacks. It's a game-changer when you're in a pinch and need to thin out a crowd instantly. Now, why does it feel 'boring' to some? I think it's because it's almost too effective. It simplifies combat encounters significantly, which can reduce the challenge if you rely on it too much. Sometimes, I want a more intricate hacking puzzle or a tense gunfight, but 'Self Destruct' often bypasses all that. It's like having an 'easy button' for certain situations. My advice? Don't dismiss 'Self Destruct' just because it's straightforward. It's a fantastic tool for specific scenarios, like taking out snipers from a distance, clearing out a clustered group of enemies, or dealing with pesky turrets and cameras silently. Combine it with other quickhacks like 'Contagion' or 'Short Circuit' for maximum mayhem. It might not always be the most engaging quickhack, but its sheer power and lack of drawbacks make it an indispensable part of my netrunner build. What are your favorite ways to use it?
