IELTS Reading Trick to Know
🔹 1. Predict what the text is about.
Guess what the article says from the first topic / picture / word.
📌 Why is it important?
Help the brain know the direction, not read lost.

Article Title: The Effects of Social Media on Teenagers

• Impact (good / waste)
❌ Don't know the details.
✅ Just know the "big picture."
🔹 2. Read quickly (1-2 minutes) to get the general idea.
Read very quickly to capture the core.
📌 Read anything?
• The first sentence of each paragraph
• Repeated words

👉 Main theme = social media affects mental health.
🔹 3. Read the questions and highlights keywords.
Read the question first, and then the band / underline the keyword.

👉, when you go back to the article, "Look for a word with a close meaning."
Such as
• negative effect = problem / disadvantage / harm
🔹 4.Don't read everything, find ONLY answers to questions.
No need to read every word. Read only the point about the question (Scanning)
📌 Technique
• Look for words like / transformation words
• Read 1-2 sentences around that point.

The article says
Social media can cause stress and anxiety among young peoples.
👉 The answer to negative effect = stress and anxiety.
🔹 5.Ignore unknown words, try to guess their meanings.
Don't know the words. Don't stop reading. Guess the context.
Sample
Teenagers may feel overwhelmed by online press.
Don't know the word overwhelmed
Look at the context + pressure.
👉 Guess = stressed / can't take it.
📌 IELTS does not measure "know every word."
But measured as "understanding the overall meaning."
🔹 6. Check your answers and exclude extra options.
Cut out the "not 100% straight" option.

จากประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวที่ได้เตรียมตัวสอบ IELTS Reading ผมพบว่า การนำเทคนิคต่างๆ มาใช้อย่างเป็นขั้นตอนและมีวินัยทำให้การอ่านจับใจความได้ดีขึ้นและลดเวลาที่ใช้ในแต่ละพาร์ทอย่างเห็นได้ชัด สิ่งที่สำคัญที่ผมอยากเสริมคือการฝึกเป็นประจำ เริ่มจากเลือกบทความเกี่ยวกับหัวข้อที่สนใจ หรือหัวข้อที่มักพบในข้อสอบ IELTS เช่น ผลกระทบของสื่อสังคมออนไลน์ต่อวัยรุ่น หรือสุขภาพจิตในยุคปัจจุบัน เมื่อฝึกเดาใจความก่อนอ่านจริงจะช่วยให้เราไม่หลงทิศทางเหมือนที่ทริคแรกแนะนำ ในขั้นตอนการอ่านเร็วหรือ Skimming ควรจับตาประโยคแรกของแต่ละย่อหน้าและคำที่มีการซ้ำซาก เพราะเป็นกุญแจที่ช่วยให้รับข้อมูลภาพรวมได้อย่างรวดเร็วโดยไม่ต้องอ่านทุกคำ อีกอย่างที่ไม่ควรมองข้ามคือการทำเครื่องหมายคำที่เป็นคีย์เวิร์ดในคำถาม เพราะเมื่อสแกนหารายละเอียด เราจะได้โฟกัสที่คำที่มีความหมายใกล้เคียงแทนคำที่ซ้ำเป๊ะๆ ซึ่งช่วยประหยัดเวลาและลดความสับสน แม้เจอคำศัพท์ที่ไม่รู้จัก อย่าลังเลที่จะข้าม เพราะการใช้บริบทช่วยเดาความหมายจะเป็นทักษะที่ได้ผลดี โดยเฉพาะกับข้อสอบ IELTS ที่วัดความเข้าใจภาพรวมมากกว่าการท่องศัพท์ทีละคำ สุดท้ายอย่าลืมตรวจคำตอบและให้ความสำคัญกับการตัดตัวเลือกที่ไม่ตรง 100% ที่มักเป็นกับดักของข้อสอบ วิธีนี้ช่วยให้มั่นใจว่าคำตอบที่เลือกนั้นแม่นยำและตรงประเด็นที่สุด การฝึกฝนโดยใช้เทคนิคเหล่านี้อย่างสม่ำเสมอจะพบว่าคะแนน Reading ของ IELTS พัฒนาขึ้นอย่างชัดเจน และทำให้เรามั่นใจมากขึ้นในการสอบจริง
