It was truly a special order from a local university, and we were tasked with creating over 400 donuts – talk about a sweet challenge! My teammate Clara and I were at the bakery shortly after 5:00 AM, ready to tackle the day. We were a well-oiled machine, frying batch after batch of our delicious donuts. Then came the fun part – dressing the donuts in all their fall glory. Beyond the massive donut order, we also had to get the rest of the cafe situated, making sure our cinnamon rolls, muffins, and bagels were fresh and ready. And, of course, the coffee orders started rolling in, including a popular pumpkin spice latte that day! It's always a juggle, but seeing the display case full and beautiful makes it all worth it. We even had a bunch of sandwich orders coming through, making it feel like I was making every sandwich item on our menu – it was a fun kind of chaos! But the main event was definitely the Ferris State University order. They needed over 400 donuts for their Unplugging event, and we were so excited to be a part of it. We offered five different fall-themed flavors, and picking personal favorites is always tough, but they were all winners! We had classic apple cider donuts, which are always a hit, alongside indulgent caramel sea salt, warm maple cinnamon, comforting cinnamon sugar, and the timeless classic vanilla glaze. Each one was crafted with love, using organic ingredients whenever possible, ensuring every bite was pure autumn deliciousness. When we arrived at the university, the line was huge! It was incredibly rewarding to see so many happy students, faculty, and staff eager to grab a fall treat. I was there for about an hour and a half, and before I knew it, we had run out of stock – a true testament to how popular those donuts were! It makes all those early mornings and hard work completely worth it. We're truly grateful for amazing community partners like the team over at Ferris State University for having us at their event.
