During my visit to CERN, I was fascinated not only by the cutting-edge scientific research but also by the presence of the Shiva statue prominently displayed on-site. This statue is a representation of Shiva, the ancient Hindu god of destruction and transformation, which symbolizes the cyclical nature of the universe—creation, preservation, and destruction. The statue was a gift from the Government of India, reflecting the cultural and philosophical link between ancient spirituality and modern physics. The god Shiva is depicted in the Nataraja form, performing the cosmic dance of creation and destruction, which intriguingly parallels the complex particle collisions and energy transformations happening within the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Seeing this artistic and spiritual symbol at the heart of a scientific facility made me reflect on how humanity seeks to understand the universe from both metaphysical and empirical perspectives.
