Visiting these jungle-covered sites offers a thrilling experience. Walking through thick foliage to reach El Mirador, often called the "monster pyramid," really brings home how nature has reclaimed these monumental works. It's fascinating to imagine that what was once thought to be natural mountains or volcanoes are actually massive man-made constructions with base lengths around four by eight feet in some stones painstakingly placed.
