Vent + Gratitude Post

Went for the Vijay Antony concert recently, and honestly, it was such a mix of emotions. I was already stressed because my siblings and I reached a little late, and all I could think about was missing the intro song (which is like the soul of the concert for me).

While queuing, there was this group behind me having the absolute time of their lives, laughing so loud, chatting away, clearly in their own world. I wasn’t too bothered at first because hey, everyone comes to concerts to enjoy. But then something weird happened: one of the guys (not sure if it was the same one or a few of them) touched my shoulder more than once. The first time, it felt intentional, a hand from somewhere further back in the group. Every time I turned, they acted as if nothing had happened, and I even heard a girl say “sorry” at one point (though I don’t know if she was the one). The touches were followed by giggles, which only made it feel more unsettling.

Was I scared? Not really. Was I stressed about it? Not exactly. But it did make me think. We were all there to enjoy music, so why did their version of “fun” have to come at the cost of someone else’s peace?

I could have shouted, made a scene, maybe even ruined the night for everyone around me, but the tickets weren’t cheap, and I didn’t want to risk spoiling the experience for my family or the crowd. So I swallowed it, stayed quiet, and tried to focus on the music.

Even though I’m trying to forget and grow out of this, I needed to vent it out here. Sometimes, it’s not about how “big” or “small” something is, it’s about how it makes you feel in the moment.

But you know what? Nonetheless, the concert was damn lit. 🔥 Man, I’ve never experienced such a concert with my family before, and we were there, living it, vibing together. I wasn’t afraid to show my fun side, and the night turned into just another miracle. Truly thanking God for making it happen.

Disclaimer:

This is just me sharing my personal experience. I’m not here to accuse or target anyone specifically, just reflecting on how important it is to respect each other’s space, especially in shared environments like concerts. Everyone deserves to enjoy without making someone else uncomfortable. 🙏

... Read moreAs someone who’s been to several concerts, I’ve learned that the atmosphere can vary wildly depending on the crowd and setting. The Vijay Antony concert at Singapore Arena, especially the #OGVIBE event on 13th September, was no exception. It felt electric and alive, which made the borderline discomfort from a few people’s behavior even more jarring. If you’re planning to attend the Vijay Antony concert or any live music event, it might help to prepare a mental strategy for dealing with unexpected situations. For example, keeping your phone handy, informing a trusted friend or family member if something feels off, and having an exit plan if needed can help maintain your peace of mind. It was heartening, though, to see how the event brought my family closer. Experiencing live music together, especially at such a vibrant concert, creates memories you cherish beyond the music — the laughter, the collective energy, and even overcoming little hurdles together. Also, respecting each other’s space is crucial, especially in packed venues like the Singapore Expo. It ensures everyone can enjoy the concert without feeling uneasy. These moments remind me of the importance of mindfulness, not only to enjoy performances but to foster mutual respect in crowded spaces. The concert truly became a blend of emotions — from excitement to discomfort, then gratitude, and finally inspiration to share this story. It’s a reminder that every concert and live event experience is layered and unique, shaped by not just the music but the people around us and how we navigate those moments.

Gratitude isn’t just a feeling... It’s an attitude you carry with you, no matter what you have or what you’re hoping for in life. Today especially, this truth shines for my family. Both my elder children are headed off on a wonderful holiday... Thanks to their grandfather’s generous treat.
