Things I’ve learned over the last four months 🩷

1. Postpartum Emotions: When you first have your baby, a wave of emotions can wash over you—feelings you’ve never experienced before. For me, I felt anxious. After having Nova, I cried constantly, worrying about how I would raise her in this world. I also felt guilty for bringing her into it.

2. Support: If you have family members willing to help you take care of your baby, please accept their assistance! After I had my baby, I felt overwhelmed with everything; even the simplest tasks became challenging. As a stay-at-home mom, my mother offered to take care of my daughter on weekends so that I could have a break and take care of things that were difficult to manage while watching a baby.

3. Co-sleeping: I know that some of you might argue with me on this but I do co-sleep. My daughter personally never liked her bassinets or her crib. So I just started putting her in bed with me. ( I don't EVER leave the room when she's in my bed and I also have a baby monitor in my room.)

4. Relationships: I feel like people often overlook how challenging it can be to maintain a relationship with your partner after having a baby. I found myself arguing with my child’s father over small issues, such as instances when I feel he isn’t doing things the way I think he should.

... Read moreBecoming a new mom is a life-changing experience filled with a range of emotions and challenges. In these early months, you learn a lot about yourself and your needs during postpartum recovery. It’s important to prioritize mental health by acknowledging feelings of anxiety and guilt; these emotions are common but can be overwhelming if left unaddressed. Support from family and friends can be crucial. Accepting help can ease the burden of new parenthood and allow for much-needed breaks. Don’t hesitate to set boundaries; co-sleeping can be beneficial for some families, fostering closeness and bonding, but safety should always be a priority. Recognize that relationships may shift as you balance parenting responsibilities with your partner. Regular communication and seeking shared solutions can strengthen connections. Finally, remember that every family's journey is unique, and finding what works best for you is essential during this transformative phase. Embrace the challenges and celebrate every small victory in this beautiful journey of motherhood.
