... Read moreRepotting a large monstera, often affectionately called 'Big Mama,' is a rewarding process that can significantly boost your plant’s growth and health. From my own experience, timing and preparation are key. I usually wait until the plant shows signs of outgrowing its current pot, like roots emerging from the drainage holes or slowed growth. Before repotting, gather all necessary materials: a pot that’s one or two sizes bigger, fresh well-draining soil, and gardening gloves. It's essential to gently remove the plant from its pot, keeping as much of the root ball intact as possible to minimize stress. One tip I've found invaluable is trimming any dead or overly long roots during repotting to promote healthy new growth. After placing the plant in its new pot, add soil around the roots and water thoroughly to help it settle. Keeping the plant in indirect light and avoiding fertilization for a few weeks allows it to recover optimally. Repotting also offers a great opportunity to check for pests or diseases and to clean the leaves, which can improve photosynthesis. Embracing this process not only helps my monstera thrive but strengthens my bond as a plant mom, making every leafy update even more satisfying.
