Delicious & easy garlic, olive oil & lemon burrata

Trying to start posting more of my food content and I made this delicious appetizer for my fiancé and I for dinner last night. Here’s my recipe, hope you enjoy ✨

Ingredients 📋

1. Fresh loaf of French or Italian bread (I prefer french)

2. Burrata cheese

3. 4 tablespoons of olive oil

4. 1 lemon

5. Minced garlic or clove of garlic (I prefer minced garlic, it’s easier and has the same effect)

6. Balsamic vinaigrette (optional)

7. Sprig of rosemary or fresh basil leaves (optional)

Instructions 👇🏾

1. Cut slices of fresh bread loaf (whatever size you prefer) I recommend doing slices that are not too thin and not too thick

2. Rub slices of bread with minced garlic or garlic clove depending on which you prefer to use

3. Drizzle bread slices with olive oil and place in toaster oven or air fryer to toast. Remove when done.

4. Take any empty bowl and pour 4 tablespoons of olive oil. Cut open lemon and squeeze lemon juice into same bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste (as preferred)

5. Place burrata cheese in a separate shallow bowl or plate and cut open with a knife.

6. Pour olive oil and lemon juice mixture over the burrata

7. Drizzle balsamic vinaigrette over the burrata (optional)

8. Add rosemary sprig or fresh basil for a garnish

9. Enjoy 🥰

... Read moreThis burrata recipe is truly a game-changer for quick, impressive appetizers, and I'm so excited to share how you can make it even more amazing! While the original recipe is fantastic as is, let's dive into some ways to elevate that delicious combination of burrata, olive oil, and especially, lemon. First off, let's talk about lemon zest. The original recipe cleverly uses lemon juice, which provides a lovely tang. But if you really want to unlock that vibrant, citrusy aroma that takes this dish from great to unforgettable, lemon zest is your secret weapon! Unlike the juice, the zest contains the essential oils of the lemon, giving you a burst of fragrant flavor without adding too much acidity. I love grating a little bit of fresh lemon zest directly over the burrata right before serving. It adds a beautiful visual touch and an incredible fresh scent that makes every bite feel brighter. If you don't have a zester, a fine grater works wonders! Just be careful to only get the yellow part, as the white pith underneath can be bitter. Next up, olive oil. Don't underestimate the power of a good quality extra virgin olive oil here. It's not just a vehicle for flavor; it is a flavor! A robust, peppery extra virgin olive oil can add a wonderful complexity that complements the creamy burrata, while a lighter, fruitier one will highlight the fresh flavors. Experiment with different types if you can! I've found that a really good quality olive oil can make all the difference, almost like a dressing on its own. You could even infuse your olive oil with a crushed garlic clove for an hour or so before drizzling for an even deeper garlic flavor, if you’re a big garlic fan like me! And what about the star of the show, the burrata itself? Choosing a fresh, high-quality burrata is key. Look for burrata that feels soft and squishy, indicating a creamy, luscious interior. When you cut it open, the stracciatella (the creamy, shredded mozzarella and cream filling) should ooze out beautifully. It makes such a difference in the overall experience of the dish! To make this appetizer even more versatile, consider some delightful additions. I sometimes like to add a sprinkle of chili flakes for a subtle kick, or a honey drizzle if I'm craving a sweet and savory contrast. Freshly cracked black pepper is always a welcome addition, and while rosemary and basil are great, don't shy away from other fresh herbs like chives or even a tiny bit of fresh dill. For serving, while toasted bread is classic, I’ve also enjoyed this with crisp crackers, or even alongside some fresh cherry tomatoes and sliced peaches or figs during peak season. It turns it into a more substantial, delightful starter. Trust me, these little tweaks will make your burrata with olive oil and lemon burst with even more flavor and freshness!
