And let me tell you, homemade Strawberry Agua Fresca is an absolute game-changer. It's vibrant, naturally delicious, and so much more satisfying than any sugary soda. Once you try this super simple recipe, you'll be hooked! Making your own Agua Fresca is surprisingly easy. Here's my go-to recipe for a classic strawberry version, inspired by what I often see and make: What you'll need: 1 lb (about 450g) fresh, ripe strawberries 3 cups of water (plus an optional .5 cup for adjusting consistency) 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to your taste – I sometimes use a bit less if my strawberries are super sweet!) Optional: A squeeze of fresh lime juice, a few mint sprigs for garnish How to make it: Prep: Wash your strawberries thoroughly, then hull them (remove the green tops). Blend: In a blender, combine the hulled strawberries, 3 cups of water, and the sugar. Blend until completely smooth. Strain: This is a crucial step for that silky texture! Place a fine-mesh sieve over a large pitcher or bowl. Pour the blended mixture through the sieve, pressing down on the solids with a spoon or spatula to extract all the liquid. Discard the pulp. Want to elevate your Agua Fresca? Here are my personal tips for the best results: Taste Test & Adjust: Always taste before chilling! If it's too tart, add a little more sugar. Too sweet? A splash of lime juice can balance it perfectly. If it's too thick, don't hesitate to add that extra .5 cup of water mentioned in the ingredients. The Power of Cold: Serve it ice-cold! Chilling it for at least an hour before serving really enhances the flavors. You can even freeze some strawberries to blend in for an extra frosty drink. Garnish Goals: A slice of strawberry, a sprig of fresh mint, or even a lime wheel makes it look extra fancy and appealing. It's all about presentation! While strawberry is my ultimate favorite, the beauty of Agua Fresca is its versatility! Don't be afraid to get creative with other fruits.
