“ no esperes la motivación, crea el hábito”.
From my personal experience, the idea of not waiting for motivation but instead creating a habit has been a game-changer. Motivation can be unpredictable—some days I felt driven, other days completely uninspired. But when I focused on building a consistent routine, things started to shift. For instance, I wanted to improve my fitness but would often skip workouts if I waited to "feel motivated." Replacing that mindset with a commitment to a habit, like exercising at the same time daily, removed the reliance on my mood. It's important to start small. I began with just five minutes of activity a day. This small commitment quickly became more manageable and less intimidating, and over time, the habit took root naturally. The phrase "no esperes la motivación, crea el hábito" (don't wait for motivation, create the habit) truly resonates because it highlights that waiting for the perfect mood or inspiration can stall progress. Instead, if you embed an action into your daily schedule, motivation becomes less relevant. Another tip is to prepare your environment to support the habit. For example, laying out your workout clothes before going to bed reduces friction in the morning and acts as a subtle reminder. It's also useful to track progress visually, which boosts accountability and satisfaction. Lastly, I learned to be patient and kind to myself during the process. Building new habits isn't about perfection but persistence. Even on days when motivation was low or distractions high (like in moments described as "POV: Uhm, ok, qué está pasando"—uncertainty or confusion), sticking to the habit routine helped me regain focus and momentum. Embracing habitual consistency over fleeting motivation has helped me improve various areas of my life, from productivity to mental health. If you commit to habit-building rather than waiting for motivation, you'll likely experience more sustainable and meaningful growth in your goals.
