... Read moreHey everyone, it's so exciting to finally be here on Lemon8 and share a little piece of my world with you! As a self-proclaimed artist and graphic designer, my life pretty much revolves around creating. You might have seen little glimpses, but today I really want to dive into what inspires me and the different ways I love to bring my ideas to life.
I absolutely adore working with various mediums, each bringing its own unique challenge and joy. For instance, acrylic painting has become one of my go-to's. There's something so satisfying about the vivid colors and the way they build up texture on canvas. I've been experimenting with bold pieces, like my take on the Mayan bust, and also loved capturing the warmth in my acrylic portrait painting of a woman in profile, which really let me play with skin tones and vibrant backgrounds. It’s amazing how much depth you can achieve!
Then there’s the delicate beauty of watercolor paintings. I often find myself drawn to them for more intricate studies, like the collection of hand studies I’ve been working on. It’s all about layering and letting the colors flow. And speaking of studies, my detailed paintings of a brown eye and a blue eye were such a journey in patience and observation. Capturing every tiny vein and iris pattern is almost meditative.
Beyond the canvas, my imagination loves to run wild with fantasy art. The idea of a Luna Moth Faerie just sparked so much joy, leading to a drawing that felt truly magical. And if you’re a fan of fantasy, you might also appreciate my colorful paper puppet of the Royal Orchid Sprite from The Spiderwick Chronicles – bringing beloved characters to life in new ways is such a thrill. It's not always about traditional canvases either; I recently tried my hand at a vibrant chalk drawing of a jellyfish on dark pavement, which was incredibly fun and a great way to share art with the public, even if it's temporary!
As an ENFP and a Virgo, my personality definitely plays a role in my art. My extroverted nature pushes me to share and connect, while my Virgo side craves the detail and precision you see in my intricate works. Being a graphic designer also means I'm always thinking about composition and visual impact, which translates into all my artistic endeavors. If you're just starting your art journey, my biggest tip is to just experiment! Don't be afraid to try new mediums, do lots of pencil sketches for practice, and find inspiration everywhere—from books to nature. Sharing your art, even if it's just a little hand study or a quick sketch, is such a rewarding part of the process. I can't wait to see what we all create together on Lemon8!
