Jesus and John Wayne 🇺🇸⛪️

Doing a half way review because this book is DENSE. Imagine if you asked someone to spark notes the history of Christianity in the USA between the early 20th century to today, and that’s this book.

Dr. Kristin Kobes Du Mez is a history professor at Calvin University, whose focus is in the intersection of religion, politics, and gender in recent US history. With her own background in Christianity, it makes for a very intriguing and insightful read.

So far I’ve learned about Billy Graham’s influence in and around the White House, as well as other influential figures that dabbled in religion/politics/media (John Wayne, Reagan, Rushdoony, LaHaye, etc.).

If you’re floundering to understand how we got to this place politically/socially, I recommend this book as a good jumping off point.

4/5⭐️ (subject to change when I finish it)
