Painting and Photoshop 👩🏼‍🎨

Combining my painting and photoshop skills, to create this piece!

For this project I used:

🍋 Gouache paints

🍋 Cold-press watercolor paper

🍋 Adobe Photoshop

All I had to do was take high quality photos of each piece (making sure that the photo was well light but not to bright), select my Totoro used the magic wand tool, and cut and paste onto my background painting.

Really happy with how it turned out!

Using gouache paints on cold-press watercolor paper allows for vibrant colors and textured effects, giving the artwork a handcrafted charm. Cold-press paper, known for its slightly rough surface, holds the gouache pigments well and is ideal for such mixed media projects. Capturing high-quality photographs of your painted pieces is essential before digitizing them. Proper lighting—bright enough to showcase color accuracy without causing glare—is key. Taking photos with consistent lighting ensures the textures and hues are faithfully reproduced. In Adobe Photoshop, tools such as the magic wand allow for precise selection of painted elements, facilitating easy isolation and seamless integration into new backgrounds or composite images. This method preserves the originality of the painting while enabling creative digital enhancements. Additionally, blending traditional gouache with Photoshop expands artistic possibilities by enabling color adjustments, layering, and effects not achievable solely with paint. Artists can experiment with composition and styles, merging analog and digital media fluidly. For enthusiasts interested in combining painting and digital editing, mastering both physical mediums like gouache and digital tools like Photoshop can significantly elevate the artistic process. This hybrid technique nurtures creativity and provides avenues to produce unique artwork that resonates with modern artistic trends and audiences.
