🌟 The night in the dress was fun, then I was tricked by a friend (not in photo) who knew I needed a place to stay because I was freshly divorced. She asked me to come stay with her and her boyfriend which is where I was tricked & held hostage for I can’t remember how long. Watched at all times, abused in every way, all of my belongings except my clothes taken.. they were going to sell me as many times as they wanted. I fought and found a way to make them happy by selling something else instead of myself. Then I broke free into a relationship that landed me the hospital unrecognizable from the horrific beatings. Over and over. Things I can’t even say out loud.
🌟I was saved by my ex husband father of my kids and we started a new life. I stayed home where I was safe and raised our kids and we had the best times I can ever imagine. Raising them was the best time of my life. They are 18 and 22 now.
🌟I’m now 42 and stuck again. My ex became an addict and life is not good anymore. We lost everything during Covid. Our home, cars, lifestyle everything. I’m still fighting because of his addiction and because I made myself stuck. I did nothing for myself only for the ones I loved. Starting from scratch with nothing is hard. But I’ll find a way. Somehow someway like before. . I’ll survive.
This narrative highlights critical issues related to domestic abuse, human trafficking, addiction, and resilience, which are important social challenges affecting many. Survivors of abuse often face long-term physical and psychological trauma that requires comprehensive support including medical care, counseling, and safe environments. The author’s experience of being held hostage and abused, followed by horrific beatings necessitating hospitalization, reflects the extreme dangers victims confront. If you or someone you know is facing similar abuse, immediately contacting local support services or hotlines is vital. Addiction within families creates complex dynamics that can cause financial instability, loss of home, and emotional distress. The author’s ex-husband’s addiction and the resultant impact during the COVID-19 pandemic show how addiction worsens vulnerability. Support groups for families of addicts and professional addiction treatment programs provide pathways to recovery and rebuilding lives. Starting over from scratch is incredibly challenging but not impossible.
