Any other girls from Louisville???!

I am desperate in needing a girl group!!

I want people to actually vibe with but Louisville, Kentucky is such a cliquey place that if you aren’t already in a group you’re screwed. I moved here in 2021 and still have 0 friends. I’ve met people had fun and somehow still ended up with no one to call or hangout with!

If you live in Lou, drop a comment so we can hangout!!!

... Read moreIt's so relatable to feel like you're starting from scratch when you move to a new city, especially one that feels a bit cliquey like Louisville! I totally get that desire for a solid girl group to genuinely vibe with. Making friends as an adult can be tough, but trust me, Louisville has so much to offer for building new connections. Here’s what I've learned and some tips to help you find your tribe here. One of the best places to start looking for 'Louisville meetups' or 'social groups near me' is online. Websites like Meetup.com are fantastic for finding groups based on shared interests – whether you're into hiking, book clubs, board games, or even just grabbing coffee. I've personally found several 'meetup Louisville' groups that cater to women specifically looking for new friendships, which can be less intimidating than general groups. Facebook also has a ton of niche groups, like 'Louisville Newcomers & Friends' or 'Louisville Women's Social Club,' where people regularly organize events. Don't underestimate the power of Lemon8 itself for connecting with locals in your area! These online communities are great 'free places to meet people' before committing to an in-person event. Beyond online platforms, getting out and trying new activities is key to figuring out 'how to make friends near me.' Think about your hobbies or something new you've always wanted to try. Louisville offers a variety of classes, from pottery at local studios to fitness classes at gyms or community centers. Joining a recreational sports league – like kickball, volleyball, or even a running club – even if you’re a beginner, is a super fun way to meet people in a relaxed setting. Volunteer opportunities are also amazing for connecting with like-minded individuals who share your passions. It’s a rewarding way to build connections and do good for the community at the same time! For casual hangouts and 'local meet ups,' explore Louisville's vibrant cafe and brewery scene. Imagine grabbing some delicious bubble tea, perhaps from a spot like 'Fun Tea' if you can find it, or any local cafe, with new friends at a cozy spot – it's a perfect low-pressure setting. There are so many charming coffee shops and craft breweries around town that host events or just provide a great atmosphere for striking up conversations. Keep an eye out for local events too, like farmers' markets, art fairs in neighborhoods like Nulu or the Highlands, or free concerts in Waterfront Park. These are excellent opportunities for spontaneous interactions and finding 'social groups to join' that align with your interests. It might feel like Louisville is cliquey at first, but often it just takes a bit of persistence and an open mind. Don't be afraid to be the one to initiate a conversation or suggest a quick 'hangout.' Consistency is key – showing up regularly to a group or activity helps build familiarity and deeper connections. You'd be surprised how many others are probably feeling the exact same way and are looking for 'new friends in your area.' Building genuine connections takes time, but by actively seeking out 'social groups to join' and putting yourself out there, you'll definitely start to find your people.
