This may or may not come as a surprise to some of you, but I still haven’t fully watched One Piece. That’s not entirely true. I’ve seen a few episodes, but I’m definitely not 1,000 episodes deep like some of my close friends 😅. I’m currently about four episodes in, but I’ve been told (very passionately) that I need to set sail and commit, because the journey is absolutely worth it. And honestly? I’m down to join the crew. I’ve already watched a few episodes with friends, and I’m having a blast so far! consider me officially on the path.
That being said, Alan has clearly found the One Piece, because he wanted me to draw him in his Gear Four form. To be honest, I felt like I was firing on all cylinders… or should I say, showing the real reason I can’t swim 😅. Just kidding.
Like every artist facing a seasoned anime fan, there’s always that looming pressure of trying not to be the worst drawing they’ve ever received. On top of that, he’s an artist himself… AND I hadn’t airbrushed in years, so this one felt both challenging and exciting. However I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. but, like every “piece” I’ve ever made, looking at it again, I can already see how I could level it up next time. Still, the most important part is that he liked it, and that’s the real treasure at the end of the Grand adventure!
I would’ve hated to waste his time. 😅

If you’re new to One Piece like me, my advice is to go at your own pace and focus on the characters or story arcs that catch your interest most. The world created by Eiichiro Oda is vast, filled with intricate lore and lovable characters, and embracing it through both watching the show and engaging with the fan art community can enhance your appreciation. Remember, the real treasure in this Grand Line adventure isn’t just about reaching the end or watching every episode, but enjoying the relationships and creativity it inspires along the way. Whether you’re an artist aiming to capture the spirit of the Straw Hat Crew or a viewer wanting to explore the rich narrative, there’s a place for everyone aboard this ship.
