Reflecting on my month in Nashville, I found that being a Black woman here means embracing a dynamic mix of culture, community, and personal growth. Attending events like the Women’s History Month happy hour co-hosted with Brittney Oliver was not only empowering but also a great way to connect with local leaders and creatives. These moments highlight the importance of supporting Black-owned spaces and celebrating milestones collectively. One of the highlights was witnessing Michelle Williams’ talk and induction at the National Museum of African American Music—a truly inspiring experience that underscored the power of faith and artistry within the Black community. This event reminded me how important it is to honor those who pave the way. Trying new things like a broker’s open house sparked my interest in real estate, revealing opportunities for growth beyond my usual circles. The genuine warmth I encountered at Session Pilates showed me how fitness communities in Nashville are inclusive and encouraging, fostering wellness alongside kindness. Social gatherings, like the Sole Sistas walk content creation and the Flamingos party, showcased the vibrant social scene here, although every event varies in vibe—with some spaces being more dance-focused than others. These experiences made it clear that Nashville’s Black girl community thrives in diverse ways, from supportive social clubs to fun night outs. Overall, March was a month of eating well, celebrating friendships, personal wins, and culture. For anyone navigating Nashville, especially Black women, my advice is to lean into community support, chase new challenges, and savor the city’s rich cultural tapestry. What’s your major win this month? Embrace it and share—it’s all about lifting each other up.
