... Read moreIf you're exploring katsu places in Singapore, especially around Tanjong Pagar, Tonshou is a must-visit for authentic Korean-style tonkatsu. The black pork used here is from Korea, known for its richer flavor and tender texture, which elevates the classic pork cutlet experience. When I visited, the restaurant's cozy setting allowed me to watch the chef prepare the dishes side by side, adding a personal touch to dining. One highlight was the Blackpink Tonkatsu, coated with Hokkaido squid ink, giving it a striking black appearance while remaining juicy inside. Pairing it with their curry sauce brought out deeper flavors. Besides black pork loin, I also loved their hire katsu (pork tenderloin), which was delightfully tender. For sides, the cold corn soup was a refreshing surprise, balancing the fried cutlets perfectly, and the Yuzu Ade was incredibly refreshing—ideal for Singapore's warm climate. They also offer unique options like menchi katsu (minced pork cutlets) and ebi katsu (shrimp tempura), which add variety for those wanting to try more. If you’re searching 'katsu near me' or craving Korean food in Little Korea Singapore, Tonshou stands out with quality ingredients and inviting ambiance, making it a great dining choice beyond just a quick meal.

Save this Gyukatsu Spot for your next Tokyo Trip
We visited the popular Gyukatsu spot in Tokyo at Asakusa area. There are actually 2 outlets within the same district and both outlets do have queue. We went after lunch hours, after 2pm so the queue is much shorter. We waited for about 20 minutes before our turn came. The staff were pretty well
