AMTRAK TRIP
First time taking the train - was a great experience until one hour before we reached our destination.
Traveling from Charlotte to Richmond - 5hrs 42 min
So me, my daughters, & my dog hopped a train last minute to go home to VA for the weekend. I absolutely loved that I was able to work & relax. The WiFi was good for majority of the trip but started to slow as we got more passengers on the train. The food was also decent.
However, I paid for my dog to have a seat and due to the allergy disclaimer I signed before boarding, I was told no one would sit next to me for this reason. A ver rude & argumentative crew member named Jayla approached me & said āyou need to let someone sit there.ā I was on a meeting & was not able to respond fully. However I did file a complaint. I paid the necessary fee & signed the disclosures but none of that was honored.
Would I do it again? Maybe from VA to DC or another short distance trip but not like this.
Traveling by train can be an enchanting way to experience the scenery. Amtrak offers various routes, including the popular Northeast Corridor for those looking to travel shorter distances such as from Washington, D.C. to Philadelphia. Many travelers appreciate the comfort of train travel, especially when compared to traffic on the roads. Passengers can enjoy spacious seating, the ability to walk around, and scenic views of the countryside. However, travelers should be vigilant about the specific policies on pets, seat reservations, and food services, as these can vary widely. Even though Amtrak provides complimentary WiFi, speeds may fluctuate, especially during peak travel times. Travelers report mixed reviews on the food quality, suggesting itās always good to check recent updates or traveler reviews before your journey. For those considering a similar trip, perhaps look into seasonal travel deals or flexible transportation options to enhance your journey!
