... Read moreIt's so easy to get caught up in the daily grind, isn't it? Sometimes, I find myself rushing through life, forgetting to pause and truly reflect on what matters most. That's why I've made it a point to take a moment each day to remember who God is and, consequently, who I am in His eyes. This simple practice has been transformative for my soul, bringing a profound sense of peace and purpose.
When I ponder 'who God is,' my mind often goes to His incredible greatness and goodness. He's not just a distant figure; He's the Creator of everything, the one who orchestrates the sunrises and paints the sky with stars. But beyond His immense power, it’s His goodness that truly captivates me. He's loving, patient, merciful, and full of grace. The thought that such a magnificent being cares deeply for me, down to the smallest detail of my life, is simply overwhelming in the best possible way. Taking a moment to acknowledge His sovereignty and benevolence helps put my own challenges into perspective.
One passage that deeply resonates with me is the daily Bible verse, Colossians 1:13. It says, 'FOR HE HAS RESCUED US FROM THE DOMINION OF DARKNESS AND BROUGHT US INTO THE KINGDOM OF The Son He Loves.' Wow! Just reading that reminds me of His incredible act of rescue from darkness. Before, I might have felt lost or without direction, but through His love, I've been pulled into a place of light and life. This verse isn't just ancient text; it's a living truth that reshapes my entire outlook. It reminds me that I'm not defined by my past mistakes or by the anxieties of the world.
So, 'who am I' then? If God is this great Rescuer, then I am His rescued child. If He has brought me into 'the kingdom of the Son He Loves,' then I am a beloved citizen, an heir, fully accepted and cherished. This isn't something I earned; it's a gift freely given. Embracing this truth – my identity in Christ – changes everything. It means I don't have to strive for perfection to be loved; I am loved because of *who He is*, not because of who I am on my own. It gives me confidence, not in myself, but in Him who works through me. It means I have purpose, a place, and an eternal hope.
How do I practically take a moment to remember these profound truths? For me, it often involves a simple prayer and reflecting on a Bible verse. I might start my day by quietly asking God to reveal more of Himself to me, acknowledging His presence. Then, I'll meditate on a verse like Colossians 1:13, letting its words sink into my heart. Sometimes, it’s just sitting in silence, feeling His peace. Other times, it’s actively journaling my thoughts about His goodness and my gratitude for His love. It's not about rigid rules, but about creating space in my heart and mind to connect with Him.
I encourage you to try it too. Find your own way to pause, breathe, and remind yourself of God's immense character and your precious identity in Him. It’s a powerful way to anchor your soul and experience true joy, even amidst life's storms. Knowing who God is and who you are because of Him can change your whole week, your whole month, your whole life. It certainly has for me!
Amen 🙏🏾
