... Read moreIt's incredible how often we might overlook the simple, yet profound, ways God shows up in our lives. That powerful verse from Psalm 34:8, 'Taste and see that the Lord is good,' isn't just a suggestion; it's an invitation to actively seek out and experience His goodness in our daily lives.
For me, really seeing the evidence of God's goodness began when I intentionally started looking for it. It's not always in grand, miraculous gestures, though those are amazing! Often, it's in the quiet moments, the small blessings, and the unexpected kindnesses. I've learned that God's presence is truly ever-present, even when situations are tough. Just like the prayer says, 'Even in the midst of hard situations, You show Yourself faithful, just, ever-present, and trustworthy.' Recognizing this has been a game-changer for my faith.
So, how can we cultivate a heart and mind that readily 'sees' this goodness? Here are a few things that have helped me:
Start a Gratitude Practice: Every morning or evening, I try to list 3-5 specific things I'm grateful for. It's not just about general thanks, but pinpointing how God specifically provided, comforted, or guided me. This trains my eyes to spot the 'evidence of Your goodness' in the small details of life, from a beautiful sunset to a timely text from a friend.
Mindful Prayer & Reflection: Beyond just asking for things, I've found immense value in spending time in prayer actively thanking Him and reflecting on His past faithfulness. The prayer from the image is such a beautiful example: 'Father God, You are so good to me! I don't have to look very far to see evidence of Your goodness in my life.' When I pray like this, it brings His past blessings to the forefront of my mind, strengthening my trust for the future.
Read and Re-read Scripture: Immersing myself in passages that speak of God's character and goodness, like Psalm 34:8 itself, helps to reset my perspective. It reminds me of His unwavering nature and opens my eyes to how those truths apply to my own experiences.
Share Your Testimonies: Talking with others about how I've seen God work, or hearing their stories, is incredibly encouraging. It reinforces my own faith and reminds me that I'm not alone in my journey of experiencing His love and blessings. Sometimes, sharing helps us articulate and therefore solidify the evidence we've seen.
Look for the 'Unexpected': God's goodness isn't always delivered in the package we expect. Sometimes, it's in a closed door that leads to a better one, or the strength we find when we thought we had none left. He truly shows Himself faithful and trustworthy, even when things don't go according to our plan. I've seen that God is good because I have cried out to Him for help, and He has saved me, time and time again.
Just as the original post encourages, 'Pray Often' and 'Give The Lord Thanx' are not just good habits, but essential practices for cultivating a heart that readily recognizes His hand in every season. When we intentionally look, we don't have to look very far to see the beautiful, undeniable evidence of His goodness in our lives. Blessed be His name!
This has been my verse for the longest🥹🩷 I am constantly being reminded of this scripture. Ohhh I just thank God for God🙌🏾✨
