Seashell House Airbnb 🐚🪸
If you ever make plans to visit Isla Mujeres, which is an island off of Mexico, you must stay in the Seashell House!! Also known as Casa Caracol, this gorgeous Airbnb is the most iconic piece of architecture on the island. 🐚
Isla Mujeres was never a destination on my bucket list, but staying in the Seashell House had been near the top for about 5 years?? Finally around my birthday, I got some friends together & made it happen!
Below I will share some details about this iconic Airbnb:
BEDS (sleeps 6)
There is one king sized bed on the second floor of the main part of the house (the conch shell), another king sized bed in the smaller shell right next to it, & yet another king sized bed in a dome-shaped shell behind the two.
FEATURES
The Seashell House features a kitchen, AC, 3.5 bathrooms, wifi, a large pool, beautiful balcony, free parking, an ocean view, & a gate for added privacy.
DECOR
My favorite part about this place is the designers attention to detail! I love how everything is either shaped like a seashell or has shell detailing. The shower & sink water come out of a conch shell, the mirror is outlined with shells, & the bed frames are molded in the likeness of a seashell!🐚
PRICING
Pricing depends on the time of year that you go. It ranges from $597 to $392 a night. It is definitely the most expensive Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in, but splitting it between myself & my friends lowered the cost. It’s an Airbnb to stay in for the experience! We only stayed for a few nights & spent most of our time hanging out there & taking advantage of all the amenities. 🪸
Will you add the Seashell House to your bucket list?!

Staying at Casa Caracol, the iconic Seashell House in Isla Mujeres, was a truly unforgettable experience, and I'm so excited to share even more tips to help you plan your own magical getaway! Beyond just the stunning aesthetics, there are so many practical things I learned that can make your stay even better. First off, getting to Isla Mujeres itself is part of the adventure. Most visitors fly into Cancun International Airport (CUN) and then catch a ferry from Puerto Juarez to the island. It's a quick, scenic ride, and once you're on Isla Mujeres, golf carts are the go-to for getting around. I highly recommend reserving one in advance, especially if you're traveling with friends and luggage, as it makes getting to the Seashell House and exploring the island incredibly convenient. The house itself is tucked away, offering that sought-after privacy, so having your own transport is key. Once you arrive, prepare to be amazed by the exterior view of the white, shell-shaped structure – it's even more breathtaking in person than in pictures! My top tip for maximizing your time here is to truly immerse yourself in the unique design. Spend an afternoon just exploring every nook and cranny. You'll notice details like the shower water flowing from a conch shell, the intricate shell-outlined mirrors, and even the bed frames molded like seashells. The designers truly thought of everything to create an authentic 'under the sea' vibe, making every corner a photo opportunity. And of course, the bright blue swimming pool is an absolute highlight. We spent hours lounging by it, surrounded by lush palm trees, feeling completely transported. Don't forget to take advantage of the fully equipped kitchen – we loved stocking up on local groceries and cooking some meals, enjoying them either by the pool or on the beautiful balcony with its ocean view. It's a fantastic way to save a bit of money and create more intimate memories with your travel companions. The house comfortably sleeps six with its three king beds, making it perfect for a group trip, and splitting the cost makes this luxury surprisingly accessible. While it's tempting to never leave the Seashell House, do carve out time to explore Isla Mujeres! Renting a golf cart allows you to easily discover the island's stunning beaches, vibrant downtown, and delicious local eateries. Playa Norte is a must-visit for its calm, shallow waters, and Punta Sur offers incredible cliffside views. Finally, for booking, I found that flexibility with dates can help with pricing, as it fluctuates throughout the year. Booking well in advance is crucial, especially if you have specific dates in mind, as this iconic Airbnb tends to book up fast. It might be the most expensive Airbnb I've stayed in, but the unparalleled experience, the sheer artistry of the architecture, and the memories made with friends made it worth every penny. This isn't just a place to sleep; it's a destination in itself, and it absolutely belongs on your travel bucket list!
