HOSTELS I Felt Safe In 🏠

Whenever I travel solo, I ALWAYS stay in hostels & have the best experience!!!

When I say best experience, it’s because I booked a hostel suited to whatever I was feeling & wanting at that time. So you can book hostels that capitalize on friendship & socializing or hostels that are more quiet & chill :)) Make sure to read reviews beforehand so you can pick a hostel that you’ll have the best experience in too!

Anyways, safety is of *utmost importance* to me when choosing a hostel(!!), so here are some hostels I felt SAFE in when traveling the coast of Albania:

🌴 Central Boutique HostelSarandë

🐚 Natural HostelHimarë

🌞 Sun Bakers Hostel Himara — Himarë

SWIPE through the slides above to see why I felt safe in these hostels, and SAVE this post to your travel folder!✈️

... Read moreHey fellow adventurers! After sharing my top safe hostel picks in Albania, I wanted to dive deeper into how I ensure my solo hostel stays are always amazing and, most importantly, secure. Choosing the right hostel in Albania, or anywhere really, goes beyond just picking a cool name; it’s about feeling truly comfortable in your temporary home. For hostel dorm room travelers like me, safety and a good night's sleep are absolutely key. When you're browsing options online, always look for hostels that clearly prioritize security. Essential features like sturdy under-bed lockers (and yes, always bring your own padlock, just in case!) are non-negotiable for keeping your valuables safe while you're out exploring. I also absolutely adore hostels that offer privacy curtains on bunk beds. These make such a huge difference, transforming a shared space into your own little private nook – perfect for unwinding with a book after a day of exploring Sarandë or Himarë. If you're a solo female traveler, actively seeking out girls-only dorms can provide an extra layer of comfort and peace of mind. Beyond the physical features, the overall vibe of the hostel and the helpfulness of its staff play a massive role in your experience. Always make sure to read recent reviews, not just for the cleanliness or party atmosphere, but specifically for comments on staff attentiveness, security measures, and overall safety. A 24-hour reception desk is a huge plus, meaning someone is always there if you need assistance, no matter the hour. Also, take a moment to research the hostel's location. Is it in a well-lit area? Is it conveniently close to public transport or major attractions? Knowing these details beforehand can make a significant difference, especially if you're arriving late at night or venturing out after dark. Once you're settled into your dorm, a few unwritten rules can really enhance everyone's experience. Be mindful of noise, especially late at night or early in the morning; using headphones for music or calls is always appreciated. Keep your belongings tidy and contained within your designated space, and avoid leaving valuables openly displayed. While it's wonderful to be social and meet new people, always trust your gut feeling about fellow travelers. If something feels off, it probably is. Finally, while my article highlights fantastic specific hostels like Central Boutique Hostel in Sarandë, Natural Hostel, and Sun Bakers Hostel in Himarë, these general tips are truly universal. They've helped me feel safe and happy in hostels across various countries. Albania is an incredibly welcoming country, and with a little preparation, your hostel experience here can be truly unforgettable. So, whether you're planning an epic trip along the stunning Albanian coast or venturing somewhere entirely new, remember these pointers to pick a hostel that feels just right for you. Happy and safe travels!
