social media vs reality

it can be really easy to forget what actual people look like (especially without makeup) with how much exposure we have to social media

i don’t really think we as people were ever designed to see SO many “beautiful people” in our lifetimes… imagine how many people like that you would see if you were born even 100 years in the past?

i guess my point is to ask why should you compare yourself to others online if even they look totally different to themselves!!

and please don’t let something so subjective as beauty negatively impact your life, it’s ok to want to look more beautiful but it shouldn’t consume you

... Read moreSocial media can distort our perception of beauty, often making us forget the authenticity of real people, particularly those without makeup. Historically, our exposure to such an overwhelming number of 'idealized' images is unprecedented; a hundred years ago, our encounters with beauty ideals were relatively few. This overexposure can lead to unhealthy self-comparisons and feelings of inadequacy. In today's world, many individuals showcase only a curated version of themselves online, leading to further distortion. It's crucial to recognize that even the most glamorous images often represent a fraction of reality. Most people, including those we admire, rarely look like their online personas 99% of the time. Understanding this can help alleviate the pressure to conform to unrealistic standards. The message here is clear: you should never feel compelled to compare yourself to what you see on social media. Beauty is inherently subjective, and one's perceived flaws are often mere illusions in the digital realm. Embracing your unique beauty and acknowledging that everyone has imperfections is key to maintaining a healthy self-image. Remember, it's perfectly okay to desire self-improvement, but let it be driven by self-love rather than by online comparisons. In the end, authenticity and self-acceptance are far more fulfilling than chasing after a fleeting and often misleading notion of beauty.

Same! 😂🙌 I rarely wear makeup. Maybe during the cooler months where it won’t melt off my face but skincare and sunblock are usually my go-to.
