I’m a Fortnite sniper 🙂

But mastering sniping isn't just about luck; it's about practice, positioning, and a bit of knowing your weapon. Since a lot of you are looking for ways to improve your sniping game, I wanted to share some of my personal tips and tricks that have helped me get those 'Player downed with a headshot' notifications! First off, weapon choice matters. While most snipers in Fortnite can deliver a punch, I usually gravitate towards ones with a faster bullet velocity or higher headshot multiplier. When I find a Heavy Sniper, I know it's time to get aggressive because it can one-shot players and even tear through builds. But even a basic bolt-action can be deadly in the right hands. Get comfortable with the bullet drop and travel time of your preferred sniper – every weapon feels a little different. Positioning is key. You can't hit what you can't see, and you can't hit effectively if you're exposed. I always try to find high ground or a covered angle. Places like the hills around what used to be Frenzy Farm (or similar open areas in current maps) are perfect for setting up long-range shots. You want to be far enough away to avoid being easily pushed, but close enough that your shots are still manageable. Always keep an eye on the storm and potential rotations so you don't get caught off guard while scoped in. Practicing your aim is non-negotiable. I spend a lot of time in Creative maps designed for aim training. There are tons of great ones out there that simulate moving targets and different ranges. It might seem tedious, but those few minutes before a match can really warm up your reflexes and improve your flick shots. Remember, muscle memory is your best friend when it comes to quick scopes! When you're actually in a match, patience is a virtue. Don't just fire wildly. Wait for your opponent to stand still for a second, or when they're running in a predictable pattern. Learning to 'lead' your shots – shooting where they will be rather than where they are – is crucial for moving targets. It takes time to get a feel for it, but once you do, those running headshots become incredibly satisfying. And finally, don't be afraid to take the shot! Sometimes you just have to trust your gut. Even if you miss, you might still put pressure on your opponent or get valuable information on their location. My goal is always to secure that one-shot headshot elimination, especially when it's down to the last 10 players.
