🚫 “Nursing is a calling” - Yes, but it’s also a career — and I need to be compensated appropriately, respected, and able to take my PTO without guilt.
🚫 “Nurses eat their young” - Never okay. We need to stop normalizing toxic behavior in the workplace. I’m all about supporting new grads!!
🚫 “You’ll adjust to night shift” - Not for me. I been on night shifts for going on 2 years and I STILL struggle and have anxiety from the lack of sleep.
🚫 “New grads have to start at the bedside” - The “bedside first” mentality is so outdated and often pushes people straight into burnout because they’re doing something that gives them no purpose.
