Summer Fashion Finds
#summerfashion #zerogatekeeping #lemon8challenge I am literally obsessed with shopping at places like Ross, t.j, Maxx, Marshalls and any name brand second hand thrift store like Plato's closet. I love getting stuff that is new to me and completely out of my normal style or comfort zone. For Mother's Day. this year I went and got myself a super long dress that is tight fitting and it was extremely comfortable. I have tattoos all over my leg so it's very rare for me to not be showing them and getting longer dresses is definitely one way to be able to conceal them. I don't know about you guys, but I went through several decades of my life where I would not wear anything that went past my knees because it just made me feel uncomfortable and now I prefer to dress a little bit more modestly especially when it comes to my dresses and stuff. Most of my dresses are worn to church... and I've been slowly gathering a collection over the years.
This dress was found at Ross and was $16
Shopping for summer fashion at thrift stores has been a game changer for me. Not only do I find amazing deals—like a $16 long fitted dress at Ross—but I also challenge myself to step out of my usual style boundaries. The thrill of discovering pieces that are ‘new to me’ brings a refreshing twist to my wardrobe without breaking the bank. One of the joys of buying second-hand or discounted name-brand clothing is the diversity available. Stores like TJ Maxx and Marshalls often have hidden gems that allow you to create unique and personalized looks. I’ve found that choosing longer dresses has helped me feel more comfortable and modest, especially since I enjoy concealing my leg tattoos when needed. This approach lets me wear stylish, church-appropriate outfits while still feeling true to my personal style. For others considering this route, I recommend starting with versatile pieces like maxi dresses or flowy skirts that can be dressed up or down for various occasions. Thrift shopping also supports sustainability by giving clothes a second life, which is a meaningful bonus. Take your time browsing and don’t hesitate to try styles you might not normally pick. It’s exciting to surprise yourself and evolve your fashion sense along the way.
