Junkrat mode in rivals
Hey Marvel Rivals fans! Like many of you, when I first jumped into the game, I immediately started thinking about my favorite playstyles from other hero shooters. And for me, that often means embracing pure, unadulterated chaos, much like our Australian demolitions expert, Junkrat! While Junkrat isn't directly swinging into the Marvel universe (yet!), I've been on a personal quest to find out how to truly bring that 'Junkrat mode' vibe to Marvel Rivals. My experience has shown me that it's less about finding a direct 1-to-1 character copy and more about understanding the essence of his playstyle: relentless explosive damage, area denial, and controlling the flow of battle through sheer mayhem. So, who steps up to the plate? Firstly, for raw, chaotic damage and area control, Doctor Strange has been a surprising contender for me. His mystical projectiles might not be bouncy grenades, but they allow for excellent indirect fire and zone saturation. Learning to predict enemy movement and dropping those AoE spells can feel incredibly satisfying, especially when you land a multi-hit HIGHLIGHT! You can really lock down chokepoints, much like a well-placed Rip-Tire could. It's all about keeping enemies guessing and denying them safe passage. Then there's Magneto. While he usually feels more tactical, his ability to manipulate metal objects and throw them around the map can create pockets of danger similar to Junkrat's mine placements. His ultimate, controlling enemies in a large area, can effectively trap and set up TRIPLE eliminations, especially when combined with your team's follow-up. Using him to block off pathways or create unexpected hazards really brings that disruptive, 'Junkrat-esque' feeling of controlling the environment to your advantage. And for those who love high-risk, high-reward explosive plays, Hulk offers a different kind of 'Junkrat mode.' He's not ranged, but his ground slams and charge abilities are pure demolition. If you enjoy diving into the fray, causing massive damage, and being a huge disruption, Hulk is your guy. It's about generating maximum impact and forcing the enemy team to react to your raw power. My personal strategy for embodying the 'Junkrat mode' has evolved. I focus on characters who can either deal significant splash damage, control areas with persistent effects, or heavily disrupt enemy positioning. It's about mastering the art of indirect attacks – firing around corners, raining down abilities from above, and making every chokepoint a death trap. I find myself constantly thinking about where my opponents want to go and then making that area as dangerous as possible. Don't just run in head-first! A Junkrat player is cunning. Think about using abilities to flush enemies out of cover, then using your primary fire to capitalize. Or, if you're playing a character with some mobility, flank aggressively to get those unexpected angles. The goal is to always be a nuisance, always be dealing damage, and always be forcing enemy reactions. My best games are when I've managed to keep the enemy team constantly on edge, not knowing where the next explosion or ability will come from. It’s a truly exhilarating way to play Marvel Rivals, and it constantly leads to satisfying HIGHLIGHT moments!
