Have we FORGOTTEN what it means to be HEALTHY?
I need this reminder for myself, so if you are in the same boat right now, I see you!
I feel like our society has forgotten what it means to be healthy!
It is seen as healthy to be lean and not carry much fat during child bearing years. It is seen as healthy to not gain much weight during pregnancy. It is seen as healthy to loose weight postpartum and while breastfeeding!
Guys, these things come from being undernourished and not eating enough! Yes, some people are naturally at a lower weight or a higher weight but most women aren’t eating 2600+ calories a day, focusing on high quality fat and protein.
If you are pregnant, is it HEALTHY to gain weight.
If you are postpartum and nursing a baby, it is HEALTHY to hold onto your weight!
Loosing weight is a clear sign that you are not eating enough. That your body is stressed the heck out!!!
And I WISHHHH that this wasn’t seen as “healthy” or the goal!!!

It's crucial to understand that health isn't merely measured by weight but by how well our bodies are nourished and function. Society often equates a lean figure with health, especially during and after pregnancy. However, gaining weight during pregnancy is natural and essential for the baby's development. Women are increasingly pressured to snap back to pre-pregnancy shapes too quickly, which can lead to harmful practices and neglect of nutritional needs. Recent discussions at health forums emphasize the importance of consuming enough calories, particularly focusing on balanced diets rich in fats and proteins to support both mother and child. Research shows that postpartum weight retention can be advantageous, especially for nursing mothers, as it provides the necessary energy reserves for breastfeeding. Women should feel empowered to embrace their bodies in all stages of motherhood rather than adhering to restrictive societal ideals. This cultural shift is essential for fostering a healthier, more supportive environment for pregnant and postpartum women. It’s time to encourage conversations about true health that highlight nourishment and self-acceptance over societal pressures to conform.
