Tart cherry juice chia refresher
Hey guys!
I wanted to jump on and share one of my new favorite drinks that I’ve been drinking before bed for the magnesium benefits!
Tart cherry juice
Chia seeds (2tbs)
Water (or sparkling water)
I added the two tablespoons of chia with about a half a cup of cherry juice till they formed the ‘chia gel’- I the added more cherry juice (to your preference) and only added the sparking water to my actual glass that I poured. Taste amazing and has so many good benefits ❤️🩹🥰 #lemon8drinks #chiaseeddrinks #lemon8 #healthyisalifestyle #onestepatatimeforward
It's been such a game-changer having this sparkling water chia refresher as part of my routine, and I wanted to dive a little deeper into why I love it so much, especially for those of you curious about combining sparkling water with chia seeds! First off, let's talk about the magic of chia seeds. I always make sure to get good quality ones, like Organic Indian Chia Seeds, because they're packed with fiber, Omega-3 fatty acids, and protein. When you mix them with liquid, they absorb it and create that fantastic gel texture, which is not only satisfying but also helps with hydration and digestion. I've found that just two tablespoons in my drink keeps me feeling fuller longer, which is a nice bonus before bed or even as a mid-afternoon pick-me-up. Then there's the tart cherry juice. The original post mentioned magnesium benefits, which are definitely a big plus, but I've also learned that tart cherries, especially varieties like Montmorency fresh pressed juice, are rich in antioxidants and natural melatonin. This is why it's become my go-to evening drink – it really helps me relax and unwind. I feel like it subtly signals to my body that it's time to calm down for the night, without any heavy feelings. Now, for the sparkling water component! This is what makes it a 'refresher' for me. Using sparkling water instead of plain water adds a lovely fizz and makes the drink feel a bit more special, like a mocktail. I've experimented with different brands, and I find that a good quality sparkling water really elevates the taste. It brings a crispness that balances the tartness of the cherry juice perfectly. Plus, it's just a more exciting way to stay hydrated! A little tip from my own experience: always mix your chia seeds with a small amount of the liquid first (like half a cup of the tart cherry juice) and let them sit for about 10-15 minutes until they've fully gelled. This prevents them from clumping up when you add the rest of your sparkling water. Once they're gelled, you can add more tart cherry juice to your liking and then top it off with the bubbly water right before you drink it. This way, you get the freshest fizz! I've also started playing around with variations. Sometimes, I'll add a squeeze of fresh lemon or lime for extra zest, or a few slices of fresh ginger if I'm feeling a bit under the weather. You could even try other fruit juices like pomegranate or a berry blend with your chia and sparkling water for a different flavor profile. The beauty of this drink is how adaptable it is! It's not just a bedtime drink; I sometimes make a lighter version during the day if I need a healthy, refreshing boost. It’s truly become a versatile staple in my healthy lifestyle journey.
