Okay, so I just had to share more about why I’m absolutely glued to 'The Obsession' by Jesse Q Sutanto right now. My initial thought was just 'intriguing,' but honestly, that doesn't even begin to cover it! From the moment I started, I was pulled into this wild ride. The cover itself sets the stage perfectly with its bold claim: 'BOY meets GIRL. BOY stalks GIRL. GIRL GETS REVENGE.' And let me tell you, it delivers on that promise. What makes this book so captivating is the unique dual perspective. We get inside the head of Logan, the obsessed stalker, and Delilah, the girl he's fixated on. It's truly a masterclass in psychological suspense, making you squirm one minute and then root for someone completely unexpected the next. Logan isn't your typical villain; his thoughts are disturbingly logical to him, which somehow makes him even more terrifying. You can almost feel the chilling intensity of his 'love' for Delilah, and it creates such an unsettling atmosphere. Then there's Delilah, who is far from a helpless victim. Seeing her piece together what's happening and strategize her counter-moves is incredibly empowering. The back cover blurb isn't kidding when it says, 'A CLASSIC SORT OF LOVE STORY... EXCEPT SOMEONE MIGHT WIND UP DEAD.' This isn't a romance; it's a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game where the lines between hunter and hunted blur constantly. The suspense builds with every chapter, and I find myself guessing what will happen next, only to be surprised by Sutanto's clever twists. If you're like me and you're devouring 'The Obsession' or looking for books that hit similar notes, I have a few recommendations that might scratch that itch. If you love the psychological depth and the 'revenge' aspect, you might enjoy 'My Lovely Wife' by Samantha Downing, which also features a couple with a dark, twisted dynamic. For another thrilling stalker story with a strong female lead fighting back, 'You' by Caroline Kepnes (which inspired the Netflix series) is a must-read, though it’s arguably even darker. And if you’re into the dark humor and morally gray characters, 'Dial A for Aunties,' also by Jesse Q Sutanto, offers a different flavor but with her signature wit and chaotic charm. Seriously, if you haven't picked up 'The Obsession' yet, especially if you're a fan of thrillers that mess with your head and offer a fresh take on the genre, I highly recommend it.
