The Craft in my Coffee
Okay, I lied a little. That there wasn’t /my/ coffee, it was my mom’s. But the same things I do for mine, I do for hers! Let’s talk about it.
Growing up in a Hispanic household, coffee has been integral to my routine since I was pretty small. I don’t drink it for energy, I drink it because I love the taste, the smell, the feeling… and in that there is magic! There is magic in anything you love. I use that to my advantage, and I will use common household ingredients and intentions to give me and my coffee a little boost. Here are some of the things I do:
✨ Stir clockwise to invite the energy I’m looking for that day
✨ Stir counterclockwise to expel gross energies I’m feeling to make room for ones that suit me better
✨ Stir sigils into it while the coffee is being poured. I honestly just let my hand do what it does and trust that the resulting sigil is accurate to my intent. This method has not yet failed me
✨ Talk to and thank my coffee, my mug, my ingredients
✨ Take my first sip very intentionally. I tend to rush things so I try to make sure I slow down at least a little bit to appreciate what I have
💌 Ingredients and how I use them :) 💌
☕️ Cinnamon: Probably my favorite to use, so very well rounded and amazing in coffee. I use it to boost other ingredients, or sometimes as a stand-alone to promote positivity, prosperity, and productivity
☕️ Sugar: naturally. Also very well rounded, I tend to be drawn towards purposes of self love and happiness with it. I’m not sure why, but brown sugar feels more potent to me than white sugar, so I use that more :). I do also use the sugar for confidence as well
☕️ Honey: This one started as just a flavor thing, but then I realized what I could do with it. Honey I add when I need to be more confident in myself. I often use it in glamours and things like that, so I’m my practice it tends to represent love, confidence and emotional strength
☕️ Salt: Okay, so just hear me out on this one. I do this when I need a bit of extra protection. Sometimes I need defense against myself, really, and so I’ll add just a touch of salt to help keep my own inner turmoil in check. This does not go without separate effort, though. Do your shadow work.
☕️ Creamer: This one didn’t really click mentally until recently and I felt silly for not having realized sooner. Every flavor of creamer can be used with its own intention. French vanilla for example, is one I associate with love!

All in all, these are my personal associations blending with generally agreed upon correspondences, and I think that’s how it should be in any practice.
