I know for us… I was born in 78. They weren’t diagnosing unless you were nonverbal back then. So I was originally diagnosed as EH (emotionally handicapped) and LD (learning disability). My youngest 2 it was a fight in NH. When I moved to Ohio it was so different. They did genetic testing and found that I have 2 genetic mutations. One in the CACNA1A gene and the other in the SET gene. Both can cause autism and intellectual disability amongst other things. Both kids have the CACNA1A mutation and one of the kids has the SET mutation. A lot of states fight genetic testing I believe. But this is just in our case. It was all in genetic mutations.
