China rejects Netanyahu’s media siege accusation
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accuses China and Qatar of leading a “media siege” against Israel, saying they organise a campaign using artificial intelligence, social media, and large funding to undermine Israel’s legitimacy.
He makes the accusation while addressing a delegation of 250 US lawmakers, warning that Israel risks diplomatic and economic isolation.
China rejects the claims, calling them “groundless,” saying they damage China-Israel relations and that Beijing is “deeply concerned” and “strongly opposed.”
China says the root causes lie in Israeli policies, and urges creative diplomacy, political wisdom, and an immediate ceasefire rather than continued military action in Gaza.
China also urges respect for Palestinian rights and statehood, while affirming Israel’s security concerns.
Israeli experts express surprise at Netanyahu’s strong public stance against China, noting that Beijing’s rhetoric on the war has become harsher since October 2023.
Analysts warn this could mark a new low in diplomatic relations, possibly triggering subtler retaliation from China such as curbs on exports.
