My no buy list 2026

I do tend to over consume and I’m fixing that this year. I have too much and need to slow down and stop. My goal is to use what I have now and end the year with less than what I started with. That’s why I’m doing Project Pan, to take control of my overconsumption before it gets out of hand. A month late to start but better late than never right?

... Read moreOver the past year, I’ve realized how much unnecessary stuff I accumulate, especially skincare and body care products. Starting a no buy list for 2026 has been a liberating experience for me. One helpful insight was categorizing my items—I found I had enough perfume to last an entire year plus spare, as well as an excessive number of lip balms and body creams. This made me more mindful of resisting impulse purchases and focusing on using what I already possess. What really motivates me is the Project Pan approach, which encourages me to finish up products before buying new ones. For instance, I had multiple soap bars and body washes, and concentrating on using them up has freed space and prevented waste. Although I started a month late, I believe it's never too late to start, and better late than never! A tip from my experience: keep a visible list of items you won’t buy this year, like perfumes, lip balms, body creams, and even mugs if you have enough. This visual reminder reduces the temptation to shop and helps maintain focus. Combining this with regular assessments of what you currently own can help build long-term sustainable habits and save money. Ultimately, this practice isn’t just about limiting buying but gaining control and appreciation for what I already have. If you struggle with overconsumption like I did, I recommend trying a no buy list and a Project Pan challenge. You’ll be surprised how rewarding and empowering it feels to use what you have instead of chasing new things all the time.
