When ceramics, petals and ecosystems become the language of the search for identity, "Polyculture," an exhibition that will make you question diversity through fragile but powerful art by the artist Se Oh.
Se Oh (Se Oh), a half-Korean-American artist who grew up in the Southern United States but never stopped questioning "who am I?" His life path is woven with nature, memory and effort connecting back to his Korean roots, through artwork that uses materials like porcelain and Hanji paper to tell a fragile but strong story, like a plant growth that faces both flourishing and rooting.
Se Oh's approach to creation is to combine, poeticism of nature, he uses soil and paintbrush as a tool to record emotions, finger traces, porcelain transparency, and stripes on paper, all becoming a "visual language" that tells stories of incorruptibility and beauty in imperfection.
"Polyculture" is inspired by a polycropping system that grows many crops in the same land, not only for natural diversity, but also for the balanced coexistence of people. "The exhibition presents the idea that" diversity is at the heart of humanity. "
Inspiration is also linked to Japanese ideas like mono no aware, which reflects the grief of insecurity, and wabi-sabi, which exalts beauty in imperfection. Se Oh's work is like a poem played through the traces of soil, ink, and the touch of hands.
Se Oh conveyed the artwork to ask about the meaning of existence in a diverse and divisive world. He communicated that "we need to create space for differences to grow like plants in a garden." The "Polyculture" exhibition is therefore not just to see the beauty of materials and shapes, but to learn that diverse coexistence makes life and culture more rich.
