Material World Reflections on Human Passion
"Material World: The Gravity of Desire - Earth, Object: The Gravity of Desire," a reflection on human passion in an age when prosperity may not lead to distress by the artist Kittiah, the island god.
This exhibition is based on a consideration of the "passions" in Buddhist philosophy, whether it is sensuality, anger, and moth that are still active in contemporary humans, despite the development of the world through technology and comfort, material prosperity is questioned as to whether it has truly elevated the human mind.
Artists convey ideas through detailed packed black-and-white works; human bodies, animals, and objects fuse together boundlessly, reflecting identities swallowed under the pressure of desire, not telling straightforward stories, but hiding religious dimensions beneath contemporary social images, opening up space for the audience to interpret for themselves.
The works in the exhibition are packed with emotional force, conveying human beings struggling under the gravity of craving, through images of people running along a stream of passions, contrasting with images of children swimming against the tide, conveying an effort toward calm; the abyss of passions appears as a world in which human beings are obsessed with objects, trapped in the trance of endless swirling lust, some reflecting their soaring into the material world and their pursuit of uncertain pleasures, while others question their unknowability and their infatuation with external appearances.
Material World: The Gravity of Desire invites us to consider ourselves through invisible gravity, and even when humans are caught in the suffering of passion, there are traces of hope and awakening. In the dark there is always the potential for knowledgeable existence.

นิทรรศการ Material World: The Gravity of Desire ไม่เพียงแต่เป็นการนำเสนองานศิลปะที่สวยงามและซับซ้อนเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นบทเรียนเชิงลึกเกี่ยวกับธรรมชาติของมนุษย์ในยุคโลกาภิวัตน์และวัตถุนิยมที่ขยายตัวอย่างรวดเร็ว ความประทับใจที่ได้จากผลงานภาพขาวดำที่รวบรวมมนุษย์ สัตว์ และวัตถุหลอมรวมเข้าด้วยกัน ทำให้ผู้ชมเกิดความคิดว่าการพัฒนาทางวัตถุไม่อาจเติมเต็มความสงบสุขภายในจิตใจได้เสมอไป ผมมีโอกาสได้ไปเยี่ยมชมนิทรรศการนี้ที่ Number1gallery และรู้สึกว่างานศิลปะเหล่านี้สะท้อนถึงความขัดแย้งภายในใจของเราทุกคน ไม่ว่าจะเป็นราคะ โทสะ หรือโมหะ ที่เป็นแรงขับเคลื่อนสำคัญของกิเลส และแม้เทคโนโลยีและความสะดวกสบายจะเพิ่มขึ้น แต่สิ่งเหล่านี้ก็เหมือนแรงโน้มถ่วงที่ดูดดึงใจให้หมุนวนอยู่ในวงจรของความอยากที่ไม่สิ้นสุด ภาพเด็กที่ว่ายทวนกระแสในงานศิลปะเกิดเป็นแรงบันดาลใจให้ฉันคิดถึงการมุ่งสู่ความสงบและการรู้เท่าทันตนเอง ซึ่งแม้จะเป็นเรื่องยากในโลกที่เราถูกล้อมรอบด้วยสิ่งเร้าอยู่ตลอดเวลา แต่ก็ยังมีความหวังและศักยภาพในการตื่นรู้ที่เราสามารถเข้าถึงได้ การไปชมงานนี้จึงไม่ใช่แค่การชื่นชมศิลปะ แต่เป็นการสะท้อนใจและเชื้อเชิญให้ทบทวนชีวิตในมุมใหม่ สำหรับผู้ที่สนใจ ผมแนะนำให้แวะไปที่ Number1gallery บนซอยสีลม 21 โดยเข้าชมฟรีและมีเวลาเปิดทำการตั้งแต่ 10.00 - 19.00 น. ตั้งแต่วันอังคารถึงวันอาทิตย์จนถึงวันที่ 8 มีนาคม 2569 ซึ่งคุ้มค่ากับการเสียเวลาอย่างมาก การจอดรถก็สะดวกสบายเพราะมีที่จอดหน้ากาลเลอรีด้วย งานศิลปะครั้งนี้จึงเป็นโอกาสดีที่จะได้ค้นหาความหมายของชีวิตและแรงบันดาลใจใหม่ๆ ท่ามกลางโลกวัตถุที่เต็มไปด้วยความปรารถนา
