What is next to love? ❤️🥰
If love is not the only thing that makes us human, then what is the next priority?
"The next most important thing after love," an exhibition that doesn't take us back to the past if it takes us to see "the child in himself" again by Maho Takahashi.
Maho Takahashi, a Japanese artist who creates works based on the exploration of memories and inner states, started with illustration and design before turning to full-body art after confronting childhood memories through understanding herself. The findings are not stories, but emotions, indecision, vulnerability, and the joints of growth, so the work does not explain life.
The exhibition begins from the belief that childhood memory is the core that shapes human beings, not the nostalgia that traces back to the past, but the feelings that still exist today; artists explore growth, self-acceptance, and humanity in a rapidly changing world.
The exhibition conveys the story through Karektor, the girl "ANOKO," a character that seems not to be a character. She is not a hero, not an idol, and not an otaku culture, but an identity that is undetailed and unemotional. ANOKO is not designed to be remembered if it is created for the audience to overlay memories into a representation of an inner child who is still in everyone, not a child, but "that child" who may be us.
Artists tell stories through visual language that merges neo-pop with emotional minimalism, uses fresh colors, simple lines resembling children's paintings, and fantasy elements that work like mental landscapes; the images are therefore bright but not cheerful, gentle but deep, like looking at memories through the eyes of adults who still do not fully understand themselves.
This exhibition may not give us an answer about love, but it may give us a more important question, because sometimes the next thing to love may not be something to find, but it may be to accept that child who has always been with us without ever disappearing.

เมื่อได้ไปเยี่ยมนิทรรศการ "The Next Most Important Thing After Love" ที่ CURU Gallery ผมรู้สึกได้ถึงพลังของศิลปะที่เชื่อมโยงความทรงจำวัยเด็กกับความเป็นมนุษย์ที่ซับซ้อนมากขึ้น งานของ Maho Takahashi ไม่ได้มุ่งหมายให้ผู้ชมเห็นเรื่องราวที่ชัดเจน แต่กลับเปิดโอกาสให้เราเติมความรู้สึกส่วนตัวลงไปในผลงาน นั่นทำให้แต่ละคนสามารถตีความและซึมซับความหมายได้แตกต่างกันไป สิ่งที่ดึงดูดใจมากคือการใช้สีสดใสและเส้นสายเรียบง่ายที่ดูเหมือนภาพเด็กวาด ซึ่งผสมผสานกับองค์ประกอบแฟนตาซีที่สื่อถึงภูมิทัศน์ทางจิตใจ ทำให้รู้สึกเหมือนได้ย้อนกลับไปพบกับ "เด็กในตัวเอง" ที่ยังคงอยู่ข้างใน ไม่ใช่เพียงแค่ความทรงจำเก่าๆ แต่เป็นความรู้สึกที่ยังส่งผลกับชีวิตปัจจุบันของเรา ตัวละคร "ANOKO" เป็นภาพแทนที่ไม่ระบุรายละเอียดบุคคลเฉพาะ แต่เปิดโอกาสให้เรารู้สึกเชื่อมโยงกับตัวเองในวัยเด็ก ความเปราะบางและความไม่แน่ใจที่ยังคงอยู่ช่วยให้เราคิดถึงการยอมรับตัวเองในความสมบูรณ์แบบที่มีทั้งแง่ดีและแง่บกพร่องในเวลาเดียวกัน นิทรรศการนี้สะท้อนความเชื่อที่ว่าความทรงจำวัยเด็กเป็นแกนกลางของการเป็นมนุษย์ ไม่ใช่เพียงแค่ nostalgia แต่คือความรู้สึกที่ยังดำเนินไปในชีวิตขณะนี้ เหมือนกับคำถามที่ว่าสิ่งสำคัญรองจากความรักไม่จำเป็นต้องเป็นสิ่งที่เราต้องตามหาอีกต่อไป แต่อาจเป็นการยอมรับ "เด็กคนนั้น" ที่อยู่กับเรามาตลอดเวลานั่นเอง ผมขอแนะนำให้ผู้ที่สนใจมาสัมผัสประสบการณ์ด้วยตัวเองที่ CURU Gallery เพราะนอกจากจะได้ชมผลงานที่สวยงามและลึกซึ้ง ยังได้รับโอกาสสำคัญในการเข้าใจตัวเองและความรักในมุมมองที่แตกต่างออกไปอย่างแท้จริง
