The Wings of Innocence
When "Icarus" is not falling to destruction, but is escaping back to the world of innocence.
"The Wings of Innocence," an exhibition that invites us to explore the line between innocence and the instincts hidden within, by Takuya Mitani
Takuya Mitani, a Japanese artist who works painting on the seam between Pop Surrealism and Symbolism, uses child characters, surreal creatures, and symbols as the primary language to explore mental states; his works may seem calm, smooth, and refined in the first layer, but looking deeper they find tension, vulnerability, and hidden instincts, making his work not just a fantasy world, if but a questioning of the relationship between innocence, fear, and the self within humans.
This idea was amplified in the exhibition The Wings of Innocence, which uses myth and symbolism as a tool to explore the "innocence" and "alienation" that exist simultaneously in humans, through the main work "Tiny tiny Icarusy icarusia" that reinterprets Icarus's subject from the tragedy of ambition, becoming a portrait of a boy in infantile regression who chooses to retreat into childhood to escape the pressures of the world.
The same concept also appears in six other works depicting girls with surreal elements such as sheep horns, agave and artificial wings, which act as a fragile mind shield, hiding the raw and instinctive beneath a calm and gorgeous-looking image, making the works resemble tales or dreams, but at the same time reflecting human truths that always have to bargain between innocence and inner drive.
The Wings of Innocence is therefore not a myth-telling with an end, but rather an open space for the viewer to explore an ever-changing emotional landscape.
Explore the relationship between innocence, instinct, and the human mind through art, and you may find that innocence does not disappear, but changes patterns and hides in places we have never noticed before at The Wings of Innocence exhibition.

เมื่อได้เข้าชมนิทรรศการ The Wings of Innocence ผมรู้สึกประทับใจอย่างลึกซึ้งกับการนำเสนอภาพของเด็กและสิ่งมีชีวิตเหนือจริงที่ไม่ได้เป็นเพียงความงดงามภายนอกเท่านั้น แต่ยังสื่อถึงความเปราะบางและแรงตึงเครียดที่มีอยู่ภายในจิตใจมนุษย์อย่างลึกซึ้ง ตัวอย่างเช่น ผลงาน "Tiny tiny Icarusy icarusia" ที่ตีความตำนานอิคารัสใหม่ในแง่มุมของการหลบหนีกลับไปสู่ความไร้เดียงสา แทนที่จะเป็นโศกนาฏกรรมจากความทะเยอทะยาน ทำให้รู้สึกว่างานศิลปะนี้เปิดโอกาสให้เราได้ตระหนักถึงการปกป้องตัวเองด้วยเกราะใจที่บางเบาในโลกที่เต็มไปด้วยแรงกดดัน อีกสิ่งที่สะท้อนในงานคือการใช้สัญลักษณ์เช่น เขาแกะ หางจระเข้ และปีกประดิษฐ์ ที่พร้อมจะปกป้องและซ่อนเร้นสัญชาตญาณดิบภายใน ซึ่งทำให้ผลงานชวนให้นึกถึงนิทานและความฝัน แต่ก็ไม่มีทางหลีกเลี่ยงความจริงที่มนุษย์ต้องเผชิญในการประนีประนอมระหว่างความไร้เดียงสาและความต้องการภายในตัวเอง ในฐานะผู้ชม ผมพบว่าการสำรวจผ่านงานศิลปะนี้ทำให้เกิดความเข้าใจลึกซึ้งเกี่ยวกับความเปลี่ยนแปลงของความไร้เดียงสาที่ไม่ได้หายไป แต่แปรสภาพและหลบเร้นในพื้นที่ที่ไม่เคยสังเกตมาก่อน จึงอยากแนะนำให้ผู้ที่สนใจได้เข้าชมนิทรรศการนี้ที่ Joyman Gallery เพราะนอกจากงานจะสวยงามแล้ว ยังเป็นเวทีที่ช่วยให้เราได้ย้อนกลับมามองและตั้งคำถามกับตัวตนและอารมณ์ภายในของเราเองอย่างมีความหมาย
