The Sediments of Human Civilization (on The Brink of Its End)
If one day "human civilization" becomes just a piece of sediment unearthed in the future, would we like the world to remember us as creators or destroyers?
"The Sediments of Human Civilization (on The Brink of Its End)," an exhibition that invites us to choose the future of the world through textile art. By PASAYA
The exhibition began to imagine that in the next 100 years, if people were to excavate the world, what would be left to tell human stories, this idea was developed into a "layer of civilization" that transcends time, allowing us to see a world from the eyes of the future where everything could be the result of past decisions.
The exhibition is designed as 3 levels (floors 3-5), likened to digging deep into the world, and its meaning includes
▪️ surface level (a civilization crystallized into art, culture, and wisdom), transmitted through the lines of the Foundation, the Statanont, reinterpreted by PASAYA's textile techniques, reflects the relationship between humans, cities, and traces of habitation accumulated through time.
▪️ Global (Nature as the Origin of Life and Inspiration) exhibits botanical works and organisms that are intricately woven into the fabric through the works of Jeng Crescent Lian and the sacred species Chakapak that reflect both the beauty and vulnerability of nature.
▪️ the essence level (Return to Basic Elements, Earth, Water, Wind, Fire) is presented through an abstract textile artwork that interprets the four elemental concepts; with an artistic language inspired by Mark Rothko in Color Field Painting, it conveys the origin and cycle of life.
What's interesting is that using textile art at its core, the fabric is not just beauty, but an area of thought that connects past, present and future, while reinforcing the concept of PASAYA linking innovation to sustainability and questioning the role of industry in the world.
In the context of the deteriorating environmental crisis, this exhibition returns to our real lives, we will live the same life, or we will choose to change so that the Earth can remain. After all, this exhibition does not provide an answer, but makes us realize that the future of the Earth may be determined by our decisions today.
And explore the sediment layers of civilizations and question the future along the way.

การได้เข้าชมนิทรรศการ The Sediments of Human Civilization ที่จัดแสดงอยู่ในหอศิลป์ BACC เป็นประสบการณ์ที่เปิดมุมมองใหม่ๆ ให้กับผมอย่างมาก เพราะไม่ใช่แค่การนำเสนอศิลปะสิ่งทอที่สวยงามเท่านั้น แต่ยังชวนให้เราตั้งคำถามถึงบทบาทของมนุษย์ในช่วงเวลาแห่งวิกฤตสิ่งแวดล้อมที่เราเผชิญอยู่จริงๆ นิทรรศการแบ่งเป็น 3 ชั้นของตะกอนอารยธรรม ถ่ายทอดถึงความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างมนุษย์ ธรรมชาติ และแก่นธาตุพื้นฐานอย่างดิน น้ำ ลม ไฟ ที่ผ่านกาลเวลามานับร้อยปีและอาจยังคงถูกเก็บเป็นชั้นตะกอนที่เล่าเรื่องของเราในอนาคต สิ่งที่ทำให้ผมประทับใจมากคือการนำเทคนิคสิ่งทอมาสื่อสารเรื่องราวเชิงลึก ทั้งความงดงามและความเปราะบางของธรรมชาติผ่านผลงานของศิลปินอย่างเจิงเสี้ยวเหลียนและพันธุ์ศักดิ์ จักกะพาก ที่ทำให้เราเห็นภาพของชีวิตและสภาพแวดล้อมในมุมที่แตกต่างไปจากเดิม ผืนผ้าที่ถูกถักทอเหมือนชั้นเวลาที่บรรจุเรื่องราวสะสมไว้ ภาพและสีสันที่ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจาก Mark Rothko ยังช่วยให้รู้สึกได้ถึงพลังของแก่นแท้ชีวิตและการเริ่มต้นใหม่ที่อาจเป็นไปได้ นิทรรศการนี้จึงไม่ใช่แค่สถานที่ชมศิลปะแต่เป็นพื้นที่สำหรับการใคร่ครวญและตระหนักถึงบทบาทของเราที่มีต่อโลกใบนี้ พวกเราทุกคนต่างกำลังสร้าง "ชั้นตะกอน" ของอารยธรรมที่ถูกบันทึกไว้ในอนาคต การเยี่ยมชมนิทรรศการจึงเป็นเหมือนการหยุดพักและพิจารณาว่า เราจะเป็นผู้สร้างหรือผู้ทำลาย และจะเลือกเส้นทางแบบไหนเพื่อส่งต่อโลกนี้ให้กับคนรุ่นหลัง ถ้าใครสนใจอยากสัมผัสงานศิลปะที่รวมความรู้สึก การตั้งคำถาม และความงดงามของสิ่งทอเข้าด้วยกัน พร้อมรับฟังเสียงสะท้อนจากอดีตและอนาคต ผมแนะนำให้ออกไปเยี่ยมชมนิทรรศการนี้ที่ BACC ก่อนวันที่ 3 พฤษภาคม 2569 แล้วคุณจะรู้สึกได้ถึงความลึกซึ้งที่ศิลปะสามารถสร้างแรงบันดาลใจให้กับชีวิตและอนาคตของเราทุกคนได้อย่างแท้จริง
