Emergent Figures | Draft Accident
"Emergent Figures," an exhibition that invites us to look at Thai modern art that is not a matter of style, but an experiment with the "shaping" of figures, images, and presence, curated by Chanon Kenji, spread the auspicious.
This exhibition begins by questioning the history of Thai art that is often described through "style" or groups - whether Impressionism, Cubism, or Surrealism - as sufficient to explain the value of Thai art. Instead of looking at artists through those frames, the exhibition offers us a view of "form" or "shaping" as an area of experimentation, change, and questioning our humanity, perception, and the world we live in.
Within the exhibition are the works of Thai artists who are regarded as masters in the Thai context: Good Tantisuk, Prayuru Ulushada, Chublong Vicious District, Somnut Uppin, Enrichment Emchao, Lavuen Uppin, Chakra Prokrit, Honorable Shannacharya, Kanya Charungsakul, Mantuen Chunma, Sakrindar, Soft Chain and Kancharin Chulsuvat.
Interestingly, despite the different approaches of individual artists, all works are connected through a "state of shaping." We see "figures" that are not clear or complete, but are changing, sometimes distorted, broken, or reassembled, sometimes halfway between abstraction and landscape, or even floating between appearance and fading, making art not just an expressive image, but an area in which something is forming.
This exhibition brings us back to a new perspective, not as a representative of the era or style that has already been categorized, but as an artist whose work can still be associated with the world today, and opens up the space for us to understand that Thai art never stops and is always "forming."

นิทรรศการ Emergent Figures | อุบัติร่าง เป็นการเปิดประสบการณ์ใหม่ให้ผู้ชมได้เข้าใจศิลปะไทยสมัยใหม่ในแง่ที่ลึกซึ้งยิ่งขึ้น ผ่านแนวคิด "การก่อรูป" ซึ่งไม่ได้หมายถึงแค่ภาพลักษณ์ที่สมบูรณ์หรือชัดเจน แต่เป็นสภาวะของร่างที่อยู่ในระหว่างการเปลี่ยนแปลง ก่อเกิดหรือละลายไปในเวลาเดียวกัน นั่นคือสิ่งที่ผมรู้สึกว่าน่าสนใจมากเมื่อได้ไปชม เพราะมันแตกต่างจากการมองศิลปะที่เคยยึดติดกับสไตล์หรือกรอบทางศิลปะที่ตายตัว ในนิทรรศการนี้เราได้เห็นผลงานของศิลปินไทยที่ล้วนมีชื่อเสียงในบริบทของศิลปะไทย เช่น สวัสดิ์ ตันติสุข, ประยูร อุลุชาฎะ, จักรพันธุ์ โปษยกฤต และอีกหลายท่านที่ต่างเสนอความหมายของ "ร่าง" ผ่านรูปแบบที่ไม่จำเจ บางครั้งร่างเหล่านี้อาจบิดเบี้ยวหรือเลือนหายเหมือนฝัน และบางครั้งก็จมอยู่ระหว่างนามธรรมและภูมิทัศน์ การจัดแสดงที่ Nova Contemporary ให้ความรู้สึกเหมือนเป็นพื้นที่ทดลอง ที่ศิลปะไม่ถือเป็นเรื่องนิ่งและสิ้นสุด แต่เป็นการทดลอง ตั้งคำถาม และพัฒนาอย่างไม่หยุดนิ่ง หนึ่งในความประทับใจคือการที่นิทรรศการนี้สะท้อนให้เห็นว่า ศิลปะไทยยังสามารถสื่อสารกับความเป็นจริงและความท้าทายในโลกยุคปัจจุบันได้อย่างทรงพลัง แม้ศิลปินส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นรุ่นก่อน แต่ผลงานของพวกเขาก็ยังมีชีวิต ชวนให้เราตั้งคำถามกับ "ความเป็นมนุษย์" และการรับรู้ของเราในโลกที่เปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรวดเร็วได้เป็นอย่างดี การได้ชมผลงานศิลปะที่แสดงสภาวะ "อุบัติร่าง" หรือ Emergent Figures ทำให้ผมนึกถึงความเปราะบางและความสวยงามของชีวิต คือสิ่งที่ไม่สมบูรณ์แบบ แต่เต็มไปด้วยการเคลื่อนไหว และการปรับเปลี่ยน นิทรรศการนี้เหมาะสำหรับคนรักศิลปะที่อยากเข้าใจมุมมองที่ลึกซึ้งและแตกต่างของศิลปะไทยสมัยใหม่ และยังเป็นโอกาสดีที่ได้ชมผลงานในบรรยากาศสุดทันสมัยของ Nova Contemporary โดยไม่เสียค่าเข้าชม หากใครสนใจอยากสัมผัสประสบการณ์นี้ อย่าลืมแวะชมก่อนวันที่ 9 พฤษภาคม 2569 เปิดทุกวันอังคารถึงเสาร์ เวลา 11.00-19.00 น. รับรองว่าจะได้แรงบันดาลใจและความรู้ใหม่ๆ กลับไปแน่นอน
