Sensory play: moonsand
Sensory play is an incredible way for children to explore and learn about their environment through their senses. Moonsand, also known as kinetic sand, is a fantastic choice for young kids as it's non-toxic and easy to make! To create your own moonsand, mix 3 cups of flour with 1/2 cup of baby oil and add food dye of your choice to achieve the desired color. This sensory activity will allow toddlers to mold, shape, and create, boosting their creativity and motor skills. Here are four additional fun activities you can do with moonsand: 1) Create a moonsand bakery where kids can ‘bake’ and decorate their treats with play tools. 2) Set up a moonsand excavation site where children can dig for hidden treasures, encouraging imaginative play. 3) Use molds to create different shapes and build a moonsand castle. 4) Mix in small, safe items like plastic animals to increase engagement. These activities not only entertain but also help develop sensory awareness and fine motor skills, making it a win-win for learning and fun!
