Day in the life at cosmetology school

OK guys… I’m back at cosmetology school and the finish line is almost here ✨

This past year I really invested in me—taking courses, practicing, and pushing myself outside my comfort zone. I’m about to start showing you all the different classes and skills I’ve been working on because it’s time for growth.

For so long, you’ve known me as your loctician—and don’t get it twisted, I’m STILL that. I’ll still be doing locs, still taking clients, and still offering classes. But personally… I’m ready to expand.

After 8–10 years of doing the same thing, I feel it in my spirit—it’s time to branch out, explore new styles, and find the niche that really speaks to me as a full hairstylist. And with my license right around the corner… it’s time to turn it ALL the way up 🔥

Come along with me while I figure it out, try new things, and step into this next level. Wish me luck on this journey 💕

One of the unexpected highlights for me has been learning advanced hair extension techniques like K-Tip extensions. These allow for more versatile and natural-looking styling options, which is a great addition to my skill set. Each day in school brings new hands-on practice opportunities, from mastering cutting-edge styling methods to deepening my knowledge of hair care products tailored to different textures. It's motivating to see the progress as I transition from focusing solely on locs to embracing a wider hairstyling niche. I’m also learning how important it is to understand client needs comprehensively—offering personalized consultations and combining styles for truly individualized looks. The journey reminded me that pushing myself beyond comfort zones is vital for growth both professionally and creatively. Balancing client appointments, practical classes, and self-study requires good time management, but the energy from learning new things keeps me driven. Plus, seeing how these skills translate into stunning transformations is incredibly rewarding. If you’re considering expanding your hairstyling expertise, I encourage you to embrace continuous learning and try new techniques like extensions or coloring methods. The cosmetology field is vast, and finding your niche is about exploration and passion combined. This growth journey has reignited my love for the craft and opened new doors I’m eager to walk through.
